Being born in the cultural capital of the country, raised up around eminent artists and being exposed to world cinema from an early age, naturally synergize a man to evolve into an animation film-maker. Coming from the old school of animation film making and being trained by the best of the animation academia from both the Eastern and Western world, Sukankan Roy emerged as an artistic Film maker.
He was awarded the prestigious National Award (62nd National Film Award) for his maiden Indian feature film, Sound of Joy which has won all the three categories of Animation in the same award program apart from winning several other Indian and International awards and accolades.
He has been creating several International and Domestic animated content for more than a decade and half now. He is artistically instrumental in producing more than 4000 minutes of animation content along side 60 odd television commercials. He has directed more than 15 different animated Television Shows for various global TV platforms, 12 Indian and European DVD features and 3 Feature Films in animation.
On the Academic side of animation he is a Animation Design Consultant to NID (National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad) for IDC products. He is also a visting Faculty for Master Classes for film students of SRFTI (Satyajit Ray Films and Television Institute). On the community development side, he is an honorary member of FICCI AVGC executive team lobbying for Animation Industry in the Central Government.
On the business side, he has been promoting several small media enterprises and ITES companies over the past 16 years creating the right kind of synergies within the group companies. Bringing several medium sized animation and art houses of India like, SOJ Comics LLP, ICE Logics Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., Aura Cinematics, Auracine Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and Indianimatix of Poland under one management umbrella named Roy Holdings, facilitating a larger talent pool and creative minds at work.
