Transactive memory and smart-phones: A correlative study of smartphone use and the Google effect
    Washington Jefferson College
The effects of transactive memory through a digital modality were measured. In addition,
a correlation was calculated between dependency on smart-phone use for information and
ability to recall answers to a recall memory test. Participants recorded trivia facts, some
believing that their notes would be saved; others told that they would be erased.
Experimenters found evidence of transactive memory in college males and females with
expected significant differences between groups. Moreover, this effect far outweighed the
effect of participants knowing or not knowing that they would be tested. However,
reliance on smart-phones for information did not correlate with enhanced effects of
    transactive memory.

Relatively Satisfied: The moderating effect of extraversion in understanding workplace incivility.
    Eastern Psychological Association
We investigated the moderating effect of extraversion in explaining the relationship between cognitive appraisals of workplace incivility experiences (i.e., goal relevance) and general job satisfaction. A strong positive correlation was found between general job satisfaction and goal relevance for extroverts, while a tentative negative relationship was found for introverts. As extroverts become more satisfied with their jobs, incivility may be seen as a greater threat. Conversely, introverts are brought down by negative aspects of incivility.

Ratings of difficulty, author intelligence, and author likability was analyzed within each individual subject, as well as between subjects that were from and outside of the Pittsburgh area. The study demonstrated that readers from the Pittsburgh area found the ‘Pittsburghese’ author to be more intelligent than the readers from outside of the Pittsburgh area, p=.058. At the alpha level of .05, these results approached significance, but did not indicate that the differences found between the author’s intelligence
