Simon Burke

My eclectic personality is reflected in my broad and somewhat unique skill set. I currently work as a part- time online English tutor for Rosetta Stone, giving live sessions as well as grading written and spoken submissions from learners. I have twenty years' experience as professional musician and music educator in the UK and USA. I studied as graduate student in Jazz Performance at the University of Illinois from 2011 - 2015, earning a Masters' degree and also completing all the course work for a doctorate up to the preliminary exams. My Bachelor's degree is in German and I have retained a fascination with the language and continue to speak it at every opportunity. I have over five years of commercial experience in the field of web design and video, my most recent experience in this field was as a graduate employee at the Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies at the University of Illinois, where I was responsible for updating the center's websites and producing and editing video content for use in the classroom. My software skills include Adobe Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Premiere and Encore. I also have over four years' experience as a professional theater technician, as a master electrician and stage manager.
