Jason R - Manager, Software DevelopmentAbout the Role:As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Absorb, you’ll play a key role in optimizing the reliability, scalability, and performance of our cloud-based (SaaS) Learning Management System.You’ll partner closely with product development and operations teams to ensure our platform delivers a rich feature set, high availability, and a seamless experience for our customers.This role is intentionally scoped for Senior to Staff level engineers. We’re looking for someone who not only executes at a high level, but can also guide others, influence systems at scale, and proactively improve how we operate.What you'll do:Own and operate the production environment, maintaining a holistic view of system health, availability, and performanceDesign, build, and maintain infrastructure and platform systems using automation-first principlesProactively create monitors and observability strategies (e.g., Sumo Logic, New Relic, Prometheus) to prevent issues before they occurApply AI tools (Claude, Cursor) to enhance infrastructure operations, including debugging, monitoring, and performance optimization at the system levelMeasure, analyze, and optimize system performance to continuously improve uptime and user experienceProvide operational support for large, distributed systems, including participation in on-call and incident responseDiagnose and resolve complex production issues, and mentor others in debugging and troubleshooting approachesPartner with engineering teams to improve reliability through testing, release processes, and system designContribute to and influence system architecture, ensuring scalability, resilience, and long-term maintainabilityParticipate in capacity planning, platform management, and infrastructure roadmap discussionsDrive automation and continuous improvement across infrastructure and deployment workflowsBalance speed and reliability through clear service level objectives (SLOs)What you’ll bringBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)7+ years in software development, IT, or similar4+ years in DevOps, SRE, or cloud engineering rolesStrong experience with AWS (Solutions Architect certification is a plus)Hands-on experience with: Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK, CloudFormation)CI/CD systems and deployment pipelinesMonitoring, observability, and performance tuningScripting experience (PowerShell preferred)Experience supporting and optimizing web applications at scaleStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to balance urgency and thoughtful executionAbility to work cross-functionally across teams and time zonesExperience with AI tools (e.g., Claude)Preferred experienceWindows systems expertiseContainerization (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes)CI/CD tooling (Git Lab, Bamboo or similar)Familiarity with .NET / C# ecosystemExperience working in AWS or Google/Azure environmentsAre you ready to become an Absorber?What we offer:Fully remote-first work with flexible work arrangements 🏡Comprehensive Health and Wellness Benefits including retirement savings programs, eligibility for two different bonus plans, generous time off, comprehensive medical and dental benefits based on your country of location 🧘New Hire Equipment Allowance and monthly Flex Allowance to support your success 📦Endless opportunity for career growth and internal mobility 🌱Employee driven DE&I programs 🫶Who are we?Absorb Software is the leading global AI-driven learning platform provider, helping organizations unlock the full potential of their workforce.
