The Phillip Bevington Policy & Research Internship with Freedman Consulting provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to be involved at the intersection of policy, philanthropy, and politics, learn about high-level strategic communications, and interact with a diverse client base. We aim to provide interns with substantive learning experiences and the opportunity to work regularly with staff at all levels of the firm.Firm Overview:Freedman Consulting, LLC, offers strategic consulting services to foundations, family offices, nonprofit organizations, and public interest coalitions, partnering with many of the nation’s leading philanthropic institutions. Our work includes strategic planning and issue landscaping for major foundations, campaign advising and coordination for coalitions, and policy development for a variety of advocacy campaigns and spans topics including public-private partnerships, economic mobility, civic innovation, and technology policy.About the Phillip Bevington Internship: Our internship program is named in memory of Phillip Bevington, a childhood friend of our firm’s CEO & Cofounder, Tom Freedman, who embodied decency, kindness, intelligence, and commitment. As part of your application, please include in a portion of your cover letter details about how you exhibit these qualities in your personal and academic life.We’re seeking applicants who are team-oriented, intellectually curious, and who have strong attention to detail. Excellent writing and organizational ability are expected, and previous research experience is preferred. Interns will have a chance to assist with projects across a variety of issue areas.The internship offers students an opportunity to:Contribute to projects through high-level research and writingSupport the creation of strategic policy deliverables, including memos and reportsGain skills in communications and messaging, coalition management, and issue trackingExplore and deepen understanding of a variety of policy issuesApplicant Qualifications:We seek applicants who are team-oriented, intellectually curious, and possess strong attention to detail. Excellent writing and organizational ability are expected; previous research experience is preferred. Only currently enrolled undergraduates are eligible.Applicants must reside in one of the following states during the internship to be considered: California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington.Interns work part-time during the firm's operating hours: either 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Eastern Time or 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Pacific Time (including a one-hour lunch break). Interns are expected to be online and available during their scheduled hours of work. Applicants residing in the Washington, DC area have the option to participate in our hybrid office policy.How to Apply:We are currently accepting applications for Fall 2026. The internship is part-time at 20 hours per week and will begin in August/September 2026, typically lasting 9 to 12 weeks.Interested undergraduate students should submit a resume and a tailored cover letter.
