The Lead Community Outreach Specialist is a senior member of the Outreach team responsible for executing outreach activities while providing day-to-day guidance and support to Outreach Specialists.This role supports team effectiveness by offering coaching, assisting with onboarding and training, coordinating outreach activities, and identifying opportunities for process improvement. The Lead Outreach Specialist ensures alignment with organizational standards while maintaining individual outreach responsibilities.In addition to outreach functions, this role may provide in-person peer recovery support services (1:1 and/or group facilitation) when assigned, operating under the same requirements, supervision, and standards as Peer Support Specialists.Scope of the RoleThe Lead Community Outreach Specialist operates in two primary functions:1. Outreach & Enrollment LeadershipCommunity outreach and member enrollmentTeam guidanceSupport of outreach execution and performance2. Community Partner DevelopmentDevelop and maintain relationships with healthcare providers, community organizations, and referral partners to increase awareness of Marigold services.Represent Marigold at provider meetings, community events, and networking opportunities to strengthen partnerships and support referral growth.Identify and communicate market opportunities, referral trends, and partner feedback to leadership to support strategic outreach efforts.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesA. Community Outreach & EngagementPerform all core outreach responsibilities, including:Conducting site visits and community outreachEngaging potential members in various settingsPromoting Marigold Health’s peer support servicesBuild and maintain relationships with provider partners and community organizationsRepresent Marigold Health professionally in all external interactionsB. Member Enrollment & ActivationAssist individuals in accessing and enrolling in the Marigold platformSupport onboarding and initial engagementCoordinate handoff to peer support services following enrollmentC. Team Guidance & LeadershipServe as the first point of contact for non-supervisor outreach questions and supportProvide real-time guidance and coaching in the field or virtuallyShare best practices related to outreach strategy, communication, and documentationSupport team alignment with organizational processes and expectationsD. Training & Onboarding SupportAssist in onboarding and training new Outreach SpecialistsReinforce standard workflows, tools, and outreach approachesSupport ongoing skill development across the outreach teamE. Provider Engagement & Relationship ManagementDevelop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with key stakeholders, including clinical leaders, care managers, peer support teams, and community partnersConduct regular provider outreach, site visits, and partner meetings to strengthen engagement and identify opportunities for growthCollaborate with provider organizations to improve referral pathways, enrollment processes, and member activation outcomesTrack and communicate partner feedback, market intelligence, and emerging needs to internal stakeholdersMaintain accurate documentation of provider interactions, engagement activities, and partnership outcomesF. In-Person Peer Support Services (When Assigned)Provide recovery-oriented peer support in individual and/or group settingsFacilitate in-person peer support groups using lived experience and recovery principlesMaintain appropriate boundaries consistent with peer support scopeOperate under supervision and requirements applicable to Peer Support SpecialistsG. Service Delivery Compliance (When Providing Peer Support)Complete required documentation for peer services in accordance with organizational and regulatory standardsFollow supervision, training, and escalation protocols required for peer staffEnsure services align with billing, contractual, and compliance requirementsH. Performance & Process ImprovementIdentify operational challenges and opportunities for improvementEscalate process inefficiencies, risks, or issues to the Outreach ManagerSupport implementation of improvements and best practices across the teamI. Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate records of outreach activities, enrollments, and member interactionsEnsure documentation is timely, accurate, and compliant with organizational standardsSupport reporting requirements related to outreach performanceJ. Risk Awareness & EscalationRecognize potential safety or behavioral health concerns during outreach or service deliveryFollow established protocols to escalate concerns to appropriate teamsMaintain appropriate boundaries in all member interactionsCore CompetenciesTo perform this role effectively, the Lead Community Outreach Specialist must demonstrate:Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skillsAbility to provide formal leadership and mentorshipStrong understanding of outreach strategies and community engagementAbility to appropriately use lived experience (when applicable)Strong group facilitation skills (for those delivering peer services)Clear understanding of boundaries between peer support and clinical careStrong organizational and coordination skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and support team effectivenessAbility to identify risks and escalate appropriatelyMinimum Qualifications2–3 years of experience in community outreach, healthcare engagement, or related rolesDemonstrated ability to mentor or guide peersStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and manage a flexible scheduleWillingness to travel extensively (up to ~75%)Meets or is actively working toward meeting state-specific requirements for Peer Support Specialist certification, including:Completion of required training and/orAccumulation of supervised hours toward certificationDemonstrates lived experience with, or a strong understanding of, substance use and/or mental health recovery, consistent with applicable state requirementsPreferred QualificationsActive certification as a Peer Support Specialist or Recovery CoachExperience facilitating groups or providing peer support servicesExperience in behavioral health or substance use recovery environmentsExperience coordinating outreach programs or team activitiesFamiliarity with digital health platformsSupervision and Reporting StructureReports directly to Manager of OutreachProvides mentorship and support to Outreach SpecialistsWhen providing peer services:Operates under supervision consistent with Peer Support SpecialistsAdheres to all supervision, documentation, and compliance requirementsWork EnvironmentField-based role with significant travelRemote administrative work when not in the fieldFlexible scheduling, including evenings and weekendsPhysical & Functional RequirementsAbility to travel frequently and work in community settingsAbility to facilitate in-person interactions and group sessionsAbility to manage multiple priorities and communications simultaneouslyCompliance & Organizational ExpectationsAdheres to all organizational policies and proceduresMaintains confidentiality of member and partner informationEnsures outreach and peer services align with regulatory, billing, and contractual requirementsMaintains appropriate boundaries in all interactionsSupports organizational readiness for audits and compliance reviewsMore About Marigold HealthMarigold Health is an early-stage, rapidly growing startup providing services for a range of community-based mental health and substance use treatment providers as well as for managed care organizations.
