About the Opportunity: - We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager who thrives in a hands-on leadership role and enjoys building impactful products while mentoring high-performing engineering teams. - This is a unique opportunity to lead a small team of talented full-stack engineers while remaining deeply involved in software development and technical decision-making. - The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership with excellent engineering skills and enjoys partnering closely with Product, Design, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions. - This role is best suited for someone who enjoys a player-coach environment, with approximately 50–70% hands-on coding and 30–50% leadership responsibilities. What You'll Do: Technical Leadership & Delivery: - Drive technical direction, architecture decisions, and engineering best practices across key product initiatives. - Provide input on roadmap planning, project scoping, estimation, and execution to help the team consistently achieve delivery goals. - Maintain a high engineering bar through thoughtful system design, code reviews, testing standards, and performance optimization. - Contribute directly to production code and lead by example throughout the software development lifecycle. - Identify opportunities to improve system architecture, scalability, reliability, and developer productivity. Team Leadership & Mentorship: - Lead, mentor, and support a team of 2–5 software engineers. - Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. - Provide coaching, feedback, career development support, and performance management for team members. - Help cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing engineering culture. Cross-Functional Collaboration: - Partner closely with Product, Design, Operations, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions. - Navigate ambiguity and rapidly evolving priorities in a growth-stage environment. - Gather feedback from end users and stakeholders to continuously improve products and processes. Innovation & Continuous Improvement: - Stay current with emerging technologies, engineering best practices, and AI-powered development tools. - Advocate for initiatives that improve engineering efficiency, code quality, product performance, and business outcomes. - Contribute ideas that drive innovation across both product development and engineering operations. Required Qualifications: - 6–10 years of software engineering experience. - Proven experience leading technical projects and engineering initiatives within high-growth technology companies. - Demonstrated success mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction. - Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and scalable application development. - Experience working in agile product development environments. - Ability to balance hands-on engineering work with leadership responsibilities. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Qualifications: - Previous people management experience leading engineering teams. - Experience building and scaling customer-facing web applications. - Exposure to healthcare, regulated industries, compliance requirements, or similar environments. - Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance software development workflows and productivity.
