Requirements and responsibilities

We need an experienced developer to convert legacy VB.NET code into modern C# within an existing production application. Much of this work involves financial reporting and calculations, so the developer must be comfortable working with financial data and validating numerical accuracy. This role requires someone who can move very quickly while maintaining a high bar for correctness and testing. Key Responsibilities -Refactor and convert legacy VB.NET code to modern, idiomatic C# -Work extensively with financial reporting logic, calculations, and data transformations -Validate numerical accuracy and ensure parity between legacy and modernized implementations -Leverage automated tests and AI-assisted tools to verify outputs and detect discrepancies -Integrate converted code cleanly into an existing application and architecture -Work independently with minimal oversight in a fast-moving environment Required Skills & Experience -Strong professional experience with both VB.NET and C# -Proven experience modernizing legacy codebases -Solid understanding of financial concepts and reporting (e.g., aggregations, balances, reconciliation, precision/rounding concerns) -Excellent automated testing skills (unit, integration, regression) -Ability to validate and reason about numerical correctness, not just code compilation -Experience delivering high-quality work under tight timelines Highly Desired -Hands-on experience using agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code or similar AI-assisted/agentic development tools) -Proven ability to use AI tools to accelerate refactoring and to cross-check financial calculations and outputs -Strong attention to detail when working with financial data and edge cases -Emphasis on speed, accuracy, and confidence in financial correctness
