## About the Role
We are looking for fluent **Korean-English Interpreters** to provide professional medical interpretation services remotely.
As a **Korean Consecutive Medical Interpreter**, you will facilitate accurate and effective communication between Korean-speaking patients and healthcare providers, including doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals.
The role involves both **Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI)** and **Video Remote Interpretation (VRI)** and requires a quiet, professional workspace suitable for handling confidential medical conversations.
## Key Responsibilities
### Medical Interpretation
* Accurately interpret medical terminology, diagnoses, treatments, instructions, and other healthcare-related information.
* Facilitate communication between Korean-speaking patients and healthcare providers.
* Maintain accuracy, clarity, and neutrality throughout interpretation sessions.
### Cultural Mediation
* Help patients understand healthcare-related processes and navigate the healthcare system.
* Help healthcare providers understand relevant cultural differences that may affect communication or patient care.
### Confidentiality & Professional Standards
* Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and healthcare information.
* Follow professional and ethical standards for medical interpreters.
* Handle sensitive conversations with professionalism and discretion.
### Documentation
* Record interpretation services provided, including date, time, duration, and type of interpretation.
### Professional Development
* Stay current with medical terminology and healthcare practices.
* Participate in required training and assessments.
## Qualifications
* Fluency in **Korean and English**.
* Previous experience in interpretation or translation; medical interpretation experience is preferred.
* Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with healthcare-related conversations.
* Strong communication and listening skills.
* Cultural sensitivity and professionalism.
* Ability to remain calm and accurate in high-pressure situations.
* Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
## Technical Requirements
Candidates must have:
* Minimum **15 Mbps download and upload internet speed**.
* **USB headset** — mandatory.
* PC or laptop with a **5th-generation processor or higher**.
* Minimum **8 GB RAM**.
* Reliable **LAN/Ethernet internet connection**.
* **HD webcam**.
* Quiet and professional workspace suitable for confidential medical interpretation.
## Working Hours
* Hourly-based scheduling.
* Shifts are scheduled according to the **EST (Eastern Standard Time)** time zone.
* **Pay Rate: $12 USD/hour.**
## Training & Onboarding
* Training is scheduled to begin at the **end of August 2026**.
* All new hires must complete a mandatory **80-hour training program over 10 business days**.
* Training is paid at **50% of the agreed hourly rate**, provided the interpreter successfully passes the assessment and begins working with the company.
* Training schedules will be provided a few days before the training start date.
* Candidates will complete a final assessment through **LanguageStat**.
* Successful candidates will receive portal credentials.
* The IT team will provide training and guidance on the interpretation platform.
* Attendance and Quality Assurance (QA) bonuses may be available as part of the incentive program.
## Terms & Conditions
* This is an **Independent Contractor** position.
* Interpretation services will be provided remotely through both **OPI (phone)** and **VRI (video)**.
* Compensation is **$12 USD per hour**.
* Payments are made **monthly via Payoneer**.
* After accepting the offer, candidates will be enrolled in the company's training program.
* No leave is permitted during the first month of employment except for emergencies with prior supervisor approval.
