The Pulitzer Center is now accepting applications for its 2026–2027 AI Accountability Fellowships.This fellowship supports journalists and newsrooms working on in-depth investigations into how governments, corporations, and institutions use AI technologies in areas such as:PolicingHealthcareSocial welfareCriminal justiceHiringSurveillancePublic decision-makingSelected fellows will receive up to $25,000 in support, including up to $20,000 for reporting and $5,000 for engagement activities.The 10-month remote fellowship also provides access to mentorship, training, legal and public records support, and a global community of journalists working on AI accountability stories.This is especially relevant for reporters interested in investigating the real-world impact of predictive, generative, and surveillance technologies on communities.Who can apply?Staff and freelance journalists from anywhere in the world, across print, radio, video, and multimedia platforms.Applicants are expected to apply with a concrete reporting project, an engagement plan, budget, work samples, references, CV, and a letter of commitment or interest from a media organization.Proposals from the Global South and journalists representing diverse communities are strongly encouraged.
