You will lead a team of Data Engineers, own, enhance and update Data Engineering processes and standards, understand company needs, and own and execute critical projects on our Data Engineering roadmap. This role sits within our Engineering department and will report directly to our Director of Data Management and Information Security.What You'll DoAt Omnidian we believe in trust and autonomy. Here is an outline of some of the things you’ll be doing:Team Leadership and Development (25%)Lead, mentor and coach a team of six Data Engineering professionals, fostering a collaborative environment.Establish and continuously improve Data Engineering architecture, processes and standardsEnsure team has measurable SMART goals (OKRs); hold yourself and team accountable for performance against these goalsProject Management and Delivery (60%)Own successful outcome and positive impact for critical large scale data engineering projects including project management, resource management and communicationMitigate risks and clear blockersCollaborate cross functionally to drive initiativesOwn team performance against established SLAs, including visibility into SLA adherence over timeEstablish and provide visibility for metrics that will identify bottlenecks or other improvement opportunitiesRoadmap, Strategy (15%)Establish, communicate and maintain a rolling 5 Quarter roadmap for Data EngineeringDrive stakeholder alignment on roadmap and prioritizationWho You AreLeadership Abilities: You possess strong leadership skills; you take satisfaction in supporting a team to achieve great things. You are familiar with Data Engineering best practices, processes and standards. You have a working understanding of IoT data and are familiar with the challenges related to acquisition of time series data from multiple unstandardized sources.Data Architecture Experience: You are comfortable with data architecture and patterns for both structured and unstructured data.Communication: You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
