This role centers around organizing production media, preparing it for editing, conforming edits for finishing, as well as exporting final deliverables. Assistant Editors also have opportunities for editing shorts, sizzles, and other ancillary content to be released on Big Think, as well as partner platforms across the web. This is a role for someone who is passionate about workflow and organization, with experience in editing short-form social videos.This is a fully remote role, giving you the flexibility to do your best work from wherever you call home.What You’ll Do:Assistant Editor Responsibilities Ingest, transcode, organize, log, and label the footage from productionsSync and color correct footageGenerate and organize transcriptsHelp usher each video through the legal process, evaluating stock and releasesConform picture and sound in preparation for grading and mixingPackage together all final elements, render, and QC final exportsAttend regularly scheduled meetingsSupport Editors with stock, music and archival research.Editing ResponsibilitiesWork with Directors/Editors to edit ancillary videos: Shorts, sizzles, and cutdowns.Interpret partner notes in collaboration with the Director and SCPWhat You’ll Need:Initiative in solving new problems as they arise, both technical and creative.Understanding of video formats and codecsProficiency in Premiere Pro and DaVinci ResolveMust be highly organized with file and folder structuresExperience with creating titles in After EffectsStrong communication skills - both written and verbalPositive attitude and solutions-based approach to your workOpenness to feedback and challengeDesire to always be improving your craftWhat You’ll Get:Work from home flexibility: We’ve been remote first since inception.Growth and mentorship: Join a supportive, collaborative team with opportunities to grow in a fast-paced startup environment.Competitive benefits: Enjoy comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability coverage, 401(k), and more!Salary Range: $45,000-50,000
