The 3PL Staff Engineer owns the technical foundation of this new product: the multi-tenant systems that manage client onboarding, inventory, warehouse operations, order fulfillment, and billing for outside customers using Spreetail's fulfillment network.You will operate as a founding technical leader for a 0-to-1 platform, bringing deep ecommerce domain expertise to bear on warehouse operations, inventory management, and order fulfillment at multi-tenant scale. This platform is being built AI-native from the start — with demand forecasting, automated exception handling, and anomaly detection woven into core workflows rather than bolted on afterward. Your work directly determines whether Spreetail can reliably sell 3PL services to external clients — making it a direct driver of new revenue and margin.This is a hands-on, high-ownership, build-from-the-ground-up role requiring strong distributed systems expertise, deep familiarity with ecommerce order-to-fulfillment flows, and the ability to make foundational architecture decisions for a new business line.Why SpreetailJoin a high-performing technology organization that values innovation, ownership, and collaboration. Together, we’ll make Spreetail better.How you will achieve success: A scalable, multi-tenant 3PL platform capable of onboarding external clients with distinct catalogs, inventory, and fulfillment rulesReliable core systems for inventory management, order routing, and warehouse operations across client accountsFast, low-friction onboarding for new 3PL clients through configurable, reusable platform componentsAccurate, real-time inventory and order visibility for both internal ops teams and external clientsReliable, observable, self-healing fulfillment pipelines with clear SLAs clients can be sold againstReduced manual intervention in exception handling (mis-ships, short-ships, returns, billing disputes) through AI-driven automationClear architectural direction as the 3PL platform scales from first clients to broad external adaptation.What experiences will help you in this role: 6–8+ years of experience building and shipping production backend systemsExperience informally or formally leading the technical direction of a team or workstream (design reviews, mentorship, setting standards)Experience with ecommerce order management, inventory, warehouse, or logistics systems is a strong plusComfortable working in a fast-moving, still-being-defined 0-to-1 environmentTechnical SkillsStrong fundamentals in backend engineering: APIs, data modeling, databases, and distributed systemsExperience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and cloud-native service designFamiliarity with event-driven architectures (queues, streams, async processing)Strong testing, debugging, and production-support practicesTechnical LeadershipAbility to set technical direction and make sound judgment calls without direct authorityStrong code review and mentorship instinctsComfort representing a workstream in broader architecture discussionsDomain & AI Exposure (Nice to Have)Exposure to EDI standards or 3PL/WMS integration patternsExperience integrating ML model outputs (forecasts, predictions, anomaly scores) into application logicInterest in growing domain expertise in e-commerce logistics and fulfillmentCollaboration & CommunicationAbility to influence and align engineers without formal authority over themClear written and verbal communication, especially in async, distributed team settingsComfort balancing hands-on technical work with guiding othersThis is a remote position and requires candidates to have an available work-from-home setupDesktop/Laptop system requirements:4th generation or higher, at least Intel i3 or equivalent processor;at least 4GB RAM;Windows 10 and above or MAC OSX operating systemYou are required to provide your own dual monitorsA strong and stable internet connection (A DSL, cable or fiber wired internet service with 10 Mbps plan or higher for primary connection)PC HeadsetA high-definition (HD) external or integrated webcam with at least 720p resolution.Please be aware of scammers.
