GENERAL SUMMARYUnder general supervision and reporting to the Director of Operations, the Procurement Specialist is responsible for purchasing a high volume and variety of materials, supplies and services. Processes purchase requisitions in fulfillment of program supply chain plans and other procurement requirements. Ensures the timely and accurate placement of purchase orders.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSCoordinates all activities related to procurement of a commodity beginning with intent to purchase through deliveryAnalyzes the requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date commodity is neededIssues RFQs and POs and/or IDWAs in accordance with company and government regulationsSolicits and evaluates proposals for the requested commodityInvestigates and/or interviews potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirementsAdvises team members or management on the appropriate supplier to be usedNegotiates the lowest possible cost for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needsImplements purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulationsAssures that the commodity is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the companyMaintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to assure accurate retention of recordsCoordinates appropriate methods needed to distribute commodity in a cost-effective mannerOther duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESKnowledge of:ERP system - SAPDepartment of Defense procurementMS Office SuiteSkills:Fluent English – reading and writing is requiredProfessionalism, integrity, and exceptional attention to detailCompetency using ERP, EDI and PLM software packagesSolid understanding of ERP/MRP and production planning principlesExcellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsStrong independent decision-making skills;
