We are looking for an accounting professional with a finance engineer's mindset — someone who owns core accounting operations while using AI and automation to make Finance more accurate, efficient, and scalable.This is a hands-on, high-ownership role responsible for the month-end close, accounts payable, expenses, reconciliations, and audit readiness. You’ll identify manual processes, build practical automations, and partner across the organization to improve how work gets done. Automation is the throughline across everything you do. This role is ideal for someone with deep SaaS experience who takes pride in getting the numbers right.What You'll DoOwn the month-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, flux analysis, and supporting schedulesOwn accounts payable, employee reimbursements, and corporate card programs, ensuring accurate coding and timely month-end accrualsPrepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations with clear supporting documentationPartner with the Controller to continuously improve and automate the month-end close by identifying bottlenecks and designing AI-powered workflows that increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.Evaluate emerging AI, automation, and Finance technology solutions, recommend improvements, and lead implementation where appropriateWork cross-functionally with Engineering and other teams to identify automation opportunities, connect systems, and eliminate manual processes across Finance.Support budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and ad hoc projects as neededSupport audit readiness by preparing audit schedules, maintaining documentation, coordinating auditor requests, and helping ensure ongoing compliance.Take ownership of ad hoc special projects that improve how Finance operatesWhat You'll Bring5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including close ownership in a dynamic startup SaaS or startup software environmentStrong knowledge of accounting fundamentals and high attention to detailProven experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) in your current role and comfort picking up new automation tools quickly (e.g., n8n, Zapier)A finance engineer's mindset: you build scalable processes that reduce work and increase accuracy for all stakeholdersStrong judgement regarding which activities should be automated and which require human reviewExperience leading or supporting a financial auditProficiency in QuickBooks Online, Rillet, or a similar GL/ERP systemExperience managing AP, expense, or corporate card programs (Ramp or similar) is preferredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA a plus but not requiredOur StackAccounting SystemsGeneral Ledger: QuickBooks OnlineAP & Corporate Cards: RampBilling & AR: TabsPayroll: Justworks, DeelCRM: HubspotSales Tax: AnrokFP&A: Spreadsheets (for now - we’re always open to improving our stack!)About NetBox Labs:NetBox Labs helps companies build and manage complex networks.
