The client is developing eight townhome units in Norwalk, Connecticut. Each unit is approximately 1,500 square feet. This is a ground-up construction project encompassing full site work, utilities, stormwater drainage, foundation, framing, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and interior finishes through certificate of occupancy.
The project will be managed using Buildertrend as the primary construction management platform.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Virtual Construction Project Manager to support the owner and general contractor throughout the full project lifecycle. This is a remote, administrative, and coordination-focused role—not an on-site position.
The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of residential ground-up construction processes, strong command of Buildertrend, and the organizational discipline to keep a multi-phase project on schedule and on budget.
Key Responsibilities
Buildertrend Administration
Set up and maintain the full project in Buildertrend, including scheduling, budget tracking, and document management
Manage daily logs, RFIs, change orders, and punch lists within the platform
Maintain an up-to-date project schedule and proactively flag delays or critical path risks
Organize all project documents, permits, plans, and photos in Buildertrend job folders
Budget & Cost Management
Track all project expenses against the approved budget in real time
Manage purchase orders, subcontractor bids, and vendor invoices through Buildertrend
Prepare and maintain a detailed project cost tracker with variance reporting
Flag budget overruns or scope creep immediately and provide updated cost projections
Bid & Procurement Support
Solicit and organize competitive quotes from subcontractors and suppliers across all trades, including excavation, utilities, stormwater, foundation, framing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and finishes
Create bid leveling spreadsheets to compare quotes on an apples-to-apples basis
Maintain a subcontractor and vendor contact database
Scheduling & Timeline Management
Build and maintain a master project schedule in Buildertrend covering all phases from site work through certificate of occupancy
Coordinate scheduling across trades to minimize downtime and sequencing conflicts
Issue weekly schedule updates to the owner and general contractor
Administrative & Reporting
Prepare weekly project status reports summarizing schedule, budget, open items, and upcoming milestones
Track permit applications, inspections, and approvals
Maintain a running issues log and follow up on open action items
Must-Have Qualifications
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in residential construction project management or construction administration
Demonstrated hands-on experience with Buildertrend and the ability to set up and manage a project from scratch
Deep knowledge of ground-up residential construction sequencing, including site work, utilities, stormwater systems, foundation, framing, and MEP trades
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for cost tracking and bid leveling
Excellent written English communication skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
Ability to manage multiple open items simultaneously without direct supervision
Available during U.S. Eastern Time business hours
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Experience with Connecticut or Northeast U.S. construction permitting and inspection processes
Familiarity with townhome or multi-unit residential development
Background working remotely with U.S.-based developers or general contractors
