Company Overview:
- Our company is a global freight forwarding and third-party logistics provider, offering ocean, air, NVOCC, and customs clearance services for import and export shipments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and submit customs entries and supporting documentation for import and export shipments arriving by ocean, air, and other transportation modes.
- Classify merchandise using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and determine applicable duties, taxes, and fees.
- Ensure compliance with Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements, including FDA, USDA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory agencies.
- Coordinate with internal freight forwarding, NVOCC, and operations teams, as well as clients, carriers, and government agencies, to resolve shipment holds, discrepancies, and documentation issues.
- Monitor changes in customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements and communicate relevant updates to clients and internal teams.
- Maintain accurate records of customs entries, classifications, and duty payments in accordance with CBP recordkeeping requirements.
- Support internal audits and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Assist with duty drawback, bonded warehouse, and Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) processes as needed.
- Collaborate with freight forwarding and logistics teams to ensure seamless door-to-door shipment handling.
- Provide guidance on customs requirements and help identify and resolve potential compliance issues.
Requirements:
- Active U.S. Customs Broker License issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
- 2–5 years of experience in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, trade compliance, or a related logistics environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
- Strong working knowledge of CBP regulations.
- Strong working knowledge of Automated Commercial Environment (ACE).
- Strong working knowledge of customs entry procedures and documentation.
- Experience handling customs entries for ocean and air shipments.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and entries simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with customs entry software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively with clients, carriers, internal teams, and government agencies.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience working in a freight forwarding or NVOCC environment.
- Familiarity with Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ), duty drawback, and bonded warehouse operations.
- Knowledge of free trade agreements, including USMCA, and their application to customs entry filings.
- Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
