We're looking for someone with deep expertise in implementing UI in Unreal Engine, a proven track record of shipping polished UI systems, and the ability to elevate both the craft and the team around them. Experience collaborating with outsource studios is a bonus.A portfolio that demonstrates a strong command of UX/UI implementation for games, including examples of systems level thinking, visual polish, and player centered design, is required.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESDesign and implement UI systems in Unreal Engine 5 using Blueprints, building interfaces from the ground up.Create and maintain UI layouts, including interactive elements such as buttons, and connect underlying gameplay logic.Work within and extend the MVVM architecture, integrating UI elements with existing data bindings and engineering frameworks.Implement and maintain logic connections between gameplay systems and UI components.Develop, apply, and refine complex UI materials and shaders, pushing visual fidelity while maintaining performance standards.Create dynamic UI visual effects using materials (e.g., glows, electricity, sheens, and other stylized effects).Prototype, sketch, test, and iterate on UI/UX concepts, translating ideas into polished in-engine implementations.Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and artists in a remote development environment, proactively identifying cross-discipline dependencies and driving alignment.Contribute to defining a minimal, intuitive, and effective UI that supports overall game design goals.KEY QUALIFICATIONS8+ years of experience in AAA game development, with a focus on UI/UX implementation and at least one shipped title.5+ years of experience implementing UI art, animations, and visual assets into Unreal Engine.Experience with shipping on multiple platforms, PC & PlayStation in particularStrong understanding of iconography, layout, typography, and visual design principles, and how they support and enhance game design.Passion for creating seamless, intuitive, and engaging user experiences for players.High proficiency with Unreal Engine, including extensive experience using Blueprints, across at least one shipped title.High proficiency with Photoshop and other tools/software for creating UI Art assets and mockups.Strong creative problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical solutions for complex UI/UX challenges.Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate design rationale and influence decisions across disciplines.BONUS:Experience with Performance & Optimization of UI in gameExperience collaborating with outsource studios, including providing direction, feedback, and quality oversight.Knowledge of accessibility features and how to solve for them within the context of the projectProgramming experience (C++, C#, etc.) is a plusOur ranges are based on California market rate regardless of work location in the US.
