About the roleThis role develops the strategic design, planning, and implementation of programs and processes to support the assigned domains and to ensure integration with the broader corporate strategy.Key ResponsibilitiesUnderstand Customer Needs and Validates Solutions. Product Management is the internal voice of the Customer for the ART and works with Customers (as well as Product Owners) to constantly understand and communicate their needs and participate in validation of the proposed solutions.Understand and Support Portfolio Work. Every Agile Release Train lives in the context of a portfolio, so Product Management has a responsibility to understand the Budget parameters for the upcoming fiscal period, understand how Strategic Themes influence the strategic direction, and work with Epic Owners to develop the business case for Epics that affect their ART.Develop and Communicate the Program Vision and Roadmap. Product Management continuously develops and communicates the vision to the development teams and defines the Features of the system. Manage the business requests to align with the scope of the business objectives, and negotiate backlog priorities while providing solution alternatives. In collaboration with Systems and Solution Architect/Engineering, define and maintain the Nonfunctional Requirements (NFRs) to help assure the solution meets relevant standards and other system quality requirements. Own the roadmap illustrating how features are intended to be implemented over time.Manage and Prioritize the Flow of Work. Manage the flow of work through the program Kanban and into the program backlog. Ensure there are enough ready features in the backlog at all times by developing feature acceptance criteria that establish that the feature meets its Definition of Done. Reprioritize the backlog with WSJF prior to each PI Planning session.Participate in PI Planning. Present the vision during each PI planning session, highlighting proposed solution features and relevant upcoming Milestones. Typically participate as Business Owners for the train with responsibility for approving PI Objectives and establishing business value.Identify program level issues, risks, dependencies, and work with BOs and CPO(s) to prioritize and resolve.Define Releases and Program Increments. Largely responsible for release definition, including new features, architecture, and allocations for technical debt. Accomplished through a series of Increments and releases, whose definition and business objectives are determined by Product Management. Work with Release Management (where applicable) to decide when enough value has been accrued to warrant a release to the Customer.Work with System Architect/Engineering to understand enabler work. While not expected to drive technological decisions, understand the scope of upcoming Enabler work and assist with decision-making and sequencing of key technological infrastructure hosting the new business functionality; often by establishing a capacity allocation.Participate in Demos and Inspect and Adapt. Active participant in System Demos, including the aggregate one at the end of the PI; involved in assessment of Metrics (business value achieved vs. plan); active participant in the Inspect and Adapt workshop.Build an effective Product Manager/Product Owner team. Through Product Owner and Product Management roles (which may report to different organizations), form an effective extended team; contribute to efficient and effective development and job satisfaction.Coordinate real world testing and exploratory testing activities; help manage prioritization and categorization of issues detected during testing.Responsible for resource needs along with RTE; collaborate on backlog grooming to ensure alignment with program vision and roadmap.Own all status reporting with input from the Business Owner.Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree or equivalent experience; may also have advanced degree10 or more years of related experienceVoluntary Benefits Enrollment experience preferredFunctional SkillsAdvanced Microsoft Office skillsAbility to establish working plan in very complex situationsStrong project management skillsDeep understanding of enterprise business unitsAdvanced oral and written communication skillsProven understanding of product management lifecycle and agile methodologiesIT technical acumen to effectively collaborate with architects, designers and dev ops team membersExperience in developing and understanding digital technology roadmaps, including identification and understanding of technical requirementsStrong interpersonal skills and track record engaging with customers and cross-functional stakeholders at all levels; demonstrated ability to listen, influence, and relate to customers/stakeholdersExperience in Insurance and Financial Services preferredCertificates, Licenses, RegistrationsProduct Owner certification preferred (PSPO and/or CSPO)Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job does have supervisory duties.
