This role combines technical expertise with project management to ensure the protection of public health and the environment through well-maintained utility systems.What You'll DoProject Management, Planning, and DevelopmentDevelop and maintain long-term (10-year) capital plans for wastewater and drainage infrastructureManage projects involving wastewater treatment plants, lift stations, collection systems, and stormwater/drainage improvementsInvestigate and resolve system issues including plant upsets, lift station failures, and infiltration problemsReview technical specifications, scopes of work, and contracts for wastewater contractorsSupport emergency response efforts for wastewater system failuresUtility Reporting & CompliancePrepare detailed reports on system performance, capital projects, and compliance statusTrack regulatory requirements including discharge permits and reporting deadlinesConduct regular field inspections to ensure quality and complianceAnalyze data to improve system performance and reliabilityTeam Collaboration & Vendor ManagementWork directly with licensed wastewater operators to ensure proper system operationSupport regional teams with troubleshooting and maintenance planningMaintain relationships with contractors, engineers, and operatorsAssist in training internal teams on wastewater best practicesWhat You'll Bring3-5 years of experience in wastewater, utility infrastructure, or environmental complianceKnowledge of federal, state, and local wastewater regulationsUnderstanding of wastewater treatment processes and collection systemsStrong troubleshooting abilities for wastewater system issuesExperience with regulatory agencies and licensed operatorsWillingness to travel 25% or more based on project needsAbility to work in outdoor conditions and wastewater facilitiesWhy This Role MattersYou'll be at the forefront of protecting public health and environmental quality by ensuring wastewater systems operate efficiently and comply with all regulations.
