We are seeking an experienced Financial Analyst with direct clinical research, sponsor, and CRO financial operations experience to support study budgeting, contract review, protocol amendment analysis, and clinical trial financial oversight.
Position Summary
The Financial Analyst – Clinical Research will support the financial and operational management of clinical research studies across multiple sites. This individual will work closely with the Director of Finance, operations leadership, sponsors, CROs, and study teams to support study budget development, protocol amendment financial reviews, contract analysis, CTMS financial tracking, and research revenue oversight.
The ideal candidate has prior experience working within a CRO, sponsor organization, clinical research site network, or healthcare research finance environment and understands the financial lifecycle of clinical trials.
Key Responsibilities
Review and analyze clinical trial budgets, sponsor payment terms, and CRO agreements
Support study budget development and protocol amendment financial assessments
Review CTA financial language, work orders, and payment schedules for accuracy
Analyze study profitability, visit schedules, and sponsor payment structures
Maintain financial tracking and reporting within CTMS and related systems
Collaborate with finance, invoicing, operations, regulatory, and study teams to support accurate study financial management
Support study startup financial reviews and ongoing budget maintenance
Assist leadership with financial reporting and research revenue analysis across multiple research sites
Identify financial process improvement opportunities related to clinical trial operations and sponsor payment workflows
Maintain organized documentation related to budgets, amendments, contracts, and sponsor communications
Ensure confidentiality and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
Perform additional related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
Minimum 1–2 years of experience in clinical research finance, CRO operations, sponsor finance, or site network financial management
Experience working with pharmaceutical sponsors and CROs required
Strong understanding of:
Clinical trial budgets
Protocol amendments
CTA/payment terms
Clinical trial financial workflows
Research revenue tracking
Experience using CTMS systems and/or clinical trial financial management systems required
Advanced Excel and spreadsheet management skills
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple studies and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Experience supporting multi-site clinical research operations preferred
Preferred Experience
Experience with CRIO, Florence, Veeva, or other clinical research systems
Experience supporting sponsor-funded and investigator-initiated clinical trials
Familiarity with clinical trial milestone payments and sponsor payment structures
Experience reviewing protocol amendments and associated financial impact
