EPM is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive environment.Key ResponsibilitiesIndependently underwrite a wide range of mortgage loans, including FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional products, ensuring compliance, risk assessment, and sound decision-making based on both AUS and manual analysis.Ensure all loan files meet HUD, FHA, investor, regulatory, and internal guidelines and overlays.Review and analyze credit, income, assets, and collateral documentation to determine loan eligibility; inquire about any additional information needed to determine loan risk.Review mortgage loan applications and supporting documents to ensure all required information is included and complete for approval or rejection; make accurate and timely underwriting decisions.Ensure that once all information is received, it is accurate, meets compliance standards, and aligns with company policies.Communicate and document reasons for approval or rejection of loans so clients and loan officers are well-informed of decisions.Collaborate with internal operations team members, clients, and brokers to gather necessary documentation, clarify information, and ensure smooth processing.Meet company SLAs for loan turnaround times and file quality standards.Provide exceptional customer service by responding to client inquiries regarding loan application statuses or documentation requirements.Additional responsibilities related to business needs.Qualifications & SkillsKnowledge of home loans and residential mortgages such as conventional, VA, FHA, USDA, Non-QM loans, and loan products.5+ years of mortgage underwriting experience or mortgage lending experience required.Active DE/CHUMS and LAPP/SAR certification required.2+ years of experience with manual underwrites.High school diploma required; college degree preferred.Understanding of compliance standards, including federal regulations (e.g., RESPA, TILA, and Dodd-Frank) and company policies.Knowledgeable in automated underwriting systems and Microsoft Office.Strong decision-making and communication skills.Recent experience with wholesale underwriting.Proficiency with Encompass loan origination system preferred.
