Requirements and responsibilities

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced accounting professional to oversee balance sheet integrity, inventory accounting, and accurate income recognition across multiple sales channels. This role is responsible for keeping financial records current throughout the month, ensuring inventory values are accurate and reconciled, and supporting efficient, low-stress month-end and quarter-end close processes. The ideal candidate has deep experience with inventory-based businesses, cost of goods sold (COGS), and balance sheet reconciliations, and can confidently analyze new sales channels to determine proper income and accounting treatment. Responsibilities: Balance Sheet Ownership & Reconciliations * Own and maintain the accuracy of the balance sheet, ensuring all accounts are properly classified, reconciled, and supported. * Perform regular balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly. * Reconcile pending deposit / undeposited funds accounts, ensuring deposits clear correctly and cash balances are accurate. Inventory Accounting & Reporting * Maintain accurate inventory balances and supporting schedules. * Prepare and review inventory reporting, ensuring consistency between operational data and financial records. * Perform quarterly inventory reconciliations comparing physical and system inventory to inventory values reported on the balance sheet. * Investigate and resolve inventory variances, write-offs, and adjustments. * Collaborate with operations, logistics, and fulfillment teams to ensure inventory movements are properly reflected in the books. Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) * Calculate, analyze, and reconcile Cost of Goods Sold. * Ensure proper matching of inventory purchases, landed costs, and sales. * Assist with allocation and reconciliation of inventory-related costs as needed. Income Recognition & Marketplace Analysis * Analyze and determine the correct income reporting and accounting treatment for new marketplaces and sales channels. * Ensure revenue is recorded accurately based on marketplace settlement structures, fees, reserves, and timing differences. * Work with internal teams to document accounting treatment for new platforms and ensure consistent application. Ongoing Accounting & Month-End Close * Keep financials up to date throughout the month to minimize month-end workload. * Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, and corrections. * Support an efficient and timely month-end and quarter-end close process. * Proactively identify and implement process improvements to improve close efficiency and reporting accuracy. General Accounting & Compliance * Ensure financial reporting complies with GAAP and internal accounting policies. * Prepare schedules and documentation for audits, tax filings, and internal review. * Partner cross-functionally to resolve accounting issues and improve financial visibility. Requirements: * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. * 3–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in inventory-based, e-commerce, or multi-channel environments. * Strong expertise in balance sheet management and reconciliations. * Proven experience with inventory accounting and COGS calculations. * Experience analyzing revenue recognition across multiple sales platforms. * Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Online preferred). * Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills. Important: Once we receive your complete submission, we will review it. If you pass this stage, we’ll reach out to schedule an interview. We appreciate the time and effort you’re putting into your application and really look forward to seeing your creativity and attention to detail in action.
