OverviewPrairieLearn is looking for a Learning Content Engineer to help us build high-quality, interactive assessments used by universities across the country. In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of education, math, and software, implementing problems written by faculty into PrairieLearn’s platform. You’ll translate ideas and handwritten solutions into robust, auto-graded questions that support student learning at scale.What you’ll doImplement math, engineering, and other STEM problems in PrairieLearn using Python and web technologiesTranslate faculty-written content into interactive, auto-graded assessmentsCollaborate with instructors to clarify intent, edge cases, and grading logicTest and refine questions to ensure correctness, clarity, and good student experienceContribute to internal tools and workflows for content developmentWhat we’re looking forStrong quantitative background (e.g., math, engineering, physics, CS)Comfortable with calculus (through multivariable)Experience with Python; familiarity with basic web development (HTML/CSS/JS)Careful, detail-oriented, and able to reason about edge casesStrong written communication skillsNice to haveDegree in CS, mathematics or a related fieldExperience teaching, tutoring, or developing educational contentFamiliarity with LaTeX or mathematical typesettingInterest in improving STEM education at scaleAbout PrairieLearnPrairieLearn is an online assessment platform used at universities across the US.
