Requirements and responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Technical Designer for a high-end custom pool builder in Tennessee. This is not just a drafting role; you will serve as a Hydraulic Engineer/Designer. You must be able to take a pool concept, perform the necessary hydraulic calculations (flow rate, head pressure, velocity), and produce technically accurate construction plans that ensure the pool functions correctly in the real world. Key Responsibilities Hydraulic Engineering & Calculation: - Calculate Total Dynamic Head (TDH), flow rates (GPM), and turnover rates for complex pool designs (infinity edges, perimeter overflows, spas). - Determine the correct pipe sizing to maintain proper velocity and pressure. - Select and size equipment (pumps, filters, heaters) based on manufacturer specifications (e.g., Hayward, Pentair) and system requirements. Schematic Design & Correction: - Review existing 2D/3D plans to identify hydraulic flaws or "impossible" plumbing layouts. - Create detailed plumbing schematics and cross-sections labeled with precise dimensions and equipment specs. 3D Rendering & CAD: - Produce high-quality 3D renderings using VIP 3D, Structure Studios, or Lumion. - Export designs into AutoCAD for precise construction markups and layout planning. Requirements - Technical Expertise: Proven ability to calculate Feet of Head, Flow Rate, Pressure, - Volume, and Velocity. You must understand why a pump is sized the way it is. - Software Proficiency: Expert mastery of AutoCAD is mandatory. Proficiency in VIP 3D or Lumion is highly preferred. - Detail-Oriented: Ability to spot errors in "standard" plans where calculations were skipped (e.g., undersized piping for a spa spillway). - Communication: Strong English proficiency to discuss complex technical terms (e.g., "tanning ledge," "infinity basin," "check valve").
