You perform the detailed, line-level review of complex federal and state returns — catching material issues, validating data, and providing direct feedback to junior preparers to improve first-pass quality. This role is built for a tax professional who has strong review instincts, knows the difference between a real problem and a rounding error, and can move quickly without cutting corners.What you'll doPerform detailed technical reviews of federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates, and nonprofits prior to manager-level sign-off.Apply judgment to distinguish high-impact issues from negligible discrepancies, keeping the review process thorough and efficient.Verify that QuickBooks Online data ties to Schedule L for clients who maintain internal books.Respond to client questions about return details and technical tax matters.Identify recurring error patterns and provide direct feedback and training to tax staff to raise the standard of first-pass accuracy.Stay current on federal and state tax law changes.QualificationsActive CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification (Required).8+ years of experience in tax preparation, with at least 2 years in a dedicated review capacity.Demonstrated ability to review across entity types: individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates, and nonprofits.Expert proficiency with CCH Axcess and QuickBooks Online.Strong understanding of bookkeeping and financial statements, including Schedule L reconciliation.Clear, professional communication skills — you'll interact directly with clients on technical matters.Why Join UsCompetitive pay + health, dental, vision, 401(k), and life insuranceRemote-first and flexible work cultureClear path for career growth in a fast-growing firmModern tech stack and automation-first mindsetSupportive, collaborative team with strong systems and documentationThe pay range for this role is:95,000 - 105,000 USD per year (Remote)
