Job title: WordPress Developer Associate. Type: Internship, part-time, 10-20 hours per week, from October 1 2026 to March 31 2027. Location: Remote, worldwide. Language: English at a conversational level is sufficient. Compensation: Unpaid for the first 3-6 months while we bring the product to market, transitioning to a paid contract once the company is generating revenue, with a path to a full-time role as revenue supports it. Academic credit supported where a school allows it. About the company: Melora Connect is association management software built for small associations and chambers of commerce - organizations under 500 members who have been priced out of or buried by the enterprise platforms. The product is built. We are a small team putting it in front of its first customers, which means everyone here works on things that matter immediately rather than on practice projects. Why this role exists: Before an association director ever sees the product, they see the website. Our web presence has to explain a category most of our buyers only half understand, earn trust from people who have been burned by software that was too big for them, and turn a search for chamber membership software into a conversation. That is a build-and-iterate job on WordPress, and nobody owns it. What you will do: Build and maintain our WordPress site - theme and child-theme work, custom blocks, templates, not just moving widgets around in a page builder. Ship campaign and comparison landing pages quickly and keep them consistent rather than letting the site sprawl. Own performance: page speed, Core Web Vitals, image handling, plugin bloat. Handle the technical side of SEO - structure, schema, redirects, sitemaps - alongside our marketing associate, who owns the content. Wire up forms and lead capture into HubSpot so nothing gets lost between the site and the pipeline. Keep it healthy and safe: updates, backups, a staging environment, basic security hygiene. Build for accessibility - association memberships skew older than the average SaaS audience, so contrast, keyboard navigation and readable type are requirements, not polish. Honest framing on stage: we are early. You will not be optimizing against six months of analytics, because we do not have them yet. The first months are foundational - a site structure that can grow, a page-building system that does not fall apart, measurement set up properly. Who we are looking for: You are comfortable in WordPress past the page-builder layer - themes, hooks, enough PHP to solve a problem rather than install a plugin for it, plus solid HTML, CSS and JavaScript. You can show at least one site you built and talk through why it is structured the way it is. You care that a page loads fast and works on a phone. You are cautious with other people's live sites: you test before you push. No degree required - self-taught, bootcamp, career-changer and student developers all encouraged. Applicants worldwide welcome. What you get: a live public site you can point to, real ownership of a business-critical property, direct work with the founder rather than three layers down, structured training through our Melora Institute curriculum, and a substantive written reference. Skills required: WordPress, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive design, web performance, technical SEO, web security basics, conversational English. Nice to have: Gutenberg block development, HubSpot, Figma handoff.
