Job title: Front-End WordPress Developer.
Type: Internship, part-time, 15-20 hours per week, starting as soon as you can and running through March 31, 2027.
Location: Remote, worldwide.
Language: English at a conversational level is sufficient.
Compensation: Unpaid for the first 3-6 months while we bring the product to market, transitioning to a paid contract once the company is generating revenue, with a path to a full-time role as revenue supports it. Academic credit supported where a school allows it.
About the company: Melora Connect is membership management software for organizations of every size, from small local groups to large national and international bodies: associations, chambers of commerce, societies, federations, councils, nonprofits and professional membership organizations. The product is built. We are a small team putting it in front of its first customers, which means everyone here works on things that matter immediately rather than on practice projects.
Why this role exists: Before a membership director ever sees the product, they see the website. Our web presence has to explain a category most of our buyers only half understand, earn trust from people who have been burned by software that was too big or too clumsy for them, and turn a search for membership management software into a conversation. That is a front-end build-and-iterate job, and nobody owns it.
What you will do:
- Build the front end of our WordPress site: theme and child-theme work, custom Gutenberg blocks, templates. Real HTML, CSS and JavaScript, not widgets dragged around in a page builder.
- Ship campaign and comparison landing pages quickly, and keep them consistent instead of letting the site sprawl into fifty one-off designs.
- Own performance: page speed, Core Web Vitals, image handling, plugin bloat, render-blocking scripts.
- Turn designs into pages. You will work from Figma against a design system that is still being built, so expect to have opinions about it.
- Handle the technical side of SEO: structure, schema, redirects, sitemaps, alongside the marketing associates who own the content.
- Wire up forms and lead capture into HubSpot so nothing gets lost between the site and the pipeline.
- Keep it healthy and safe: updates, backups, a staging environment, basic security hygiene.
- Build for accessibility. Membership audiences skew older than the average SaaS audience, so contrast, keyboard navigation and readable type are requirements, not polish.
Honest framing on stage: we are early. You will not be optimizing against six months of analytics, because we do not have them yet. The first months are foundational: a site structure that can grow, a component system that does not fall apart, measurement set up properly.
Who we are looking for: You are strong in front-end fundamentals, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and you are comfortable in WordPress past the page-builder layer: themes, hooks, enough PHP to solve a problem rather than install a plugin for it. You can show at least one site you built and talk through why it is structured the way it is. You care that a page loads fast and works on a phone. You are careful with other people's live sites and you test before you push. No degree required. Self-taught, bootcamp, career-changer and student developers are all encouraged to apply. Applicants worldwide welcome.
What you get: a live public site you can point to, real ownership of a business-critical property, direct work with the founder rather than three layers down, structured training through our Melora Institute curriculum, and a substantive written reference.
