As a Senior Java Engineer supporting OurFamilyWizard, you will directly contribute to features that make everyday life easier for families on their co-parenting journey. You will be part of a product team and collaborate with product managers, designers, QA analysts, automation engineers, and other web and mobile engineers to solve meaningful problems for parents, children, and practitioners. We are looking for someone with high quality software development skills and a deep knowledge of Relational Databases, Hibernate, and the Spring Framework, and who values experience with microservices architecture to solve problems. Please note that we are only accepting applicants located in the United States and sponsorship is not available at this time.What you will accomplish:Getting to know teammates, technology, and tactics. The first day will be spent partnering with your manager and a teammate to get your local environment set up and fix a bug. The following 29 days will involve connecting with teammates across OurFamilyWizard and Cozi to understand prioritization, planning, building, and delivering value to families on our platform. You will build deeper connections with product and platform teammates as you participate in daily and weekly agile rituals and the API guild. Your manager will set up recurring 1:1s and begin ongoing discussions of personal and team goals. The technical work will include exposure to services within your team’s domain and other platform areas where ownership is shared. By the end of the first month, you will be acclimated to the operating rhythm of the product team and gain confidence by taking on increasingly complex tasks.Try, learn, ship. By day 60, you will be comfortable operating within the SDLC from planning through production releases. You will have a broad understanding of our backend architecture and the services within your team’s area of ownership and the APIs powering our client experiences. Through weekly work that presents complex and varied challenges, you will continue to become familiar with processes, patterns, and best practices. By releasing regularly, you will make an impact on end users.Solidifying the foundation. Beyond the first couple of months, you will become an autonomous operator capable of architecting solutions to complex problems in line with our patterns and best practices, with minimal supervision. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teammates, product managers, designers, and engineering managers to help build execution plans for new features that support the product and business strategy. By day 90 as a Senior Java Engineer you will have the tools and confidence to provide foundational support for your product team.Accelerate growth. With a solid understanding of platform architecture, design patterns and best practices you will have opportunities to influence platform-level changes that expand your ownership and impact. Working with product and design, you will be empowered to shape strategy and user experience and to tackle complex product problems and modernization challenges, establishing yourself as a subject matter expert and continuing to grow.
