SummaryThe Statistician supports the Division of Health Interview Statistics (DHIS) by performing survey data analysis, verification, and quality assurance activities for National Health Information System (NHIS), Routine Surveillance System (RSS), and other District Health Information System (DHIS) surveys. The role focuses on analyzing survey microdata, validating estimates, supporting data dissemination products, and ensuring accuracy and consistency of statistical outputs.Key ResponsibilitiesRespond to data requests by performing analysis of NHIS, RSS, or other DHIS survey data using SAS to generate basic descriptive statistics and prevalence estimates.This is a Remote (work from home) position.Provide independent verification of estimates by analyzing survey data prior to the release of products.Prepare data for updates to data query products by exporting estimates into appropriate formats for input into query tools.Review data query products to ensure changes, updates, and minor modifications have been correctly implemented.Review print and electronic data products to verify consistency of estimates across text, tables, figures, statistical output, footnotes, and methodological notes.Review survey microdata by checking frequencies, skip patterns, and accompanying documentation prior to data release.Perform additional quality assurance activities as required.Assist with automating quality assurance activities by using SAS and Excel to assemble large volumes of output.QualificationsMinimum four (4) years of college-level education and 3–5 years of relevant experience.Intermediate experience with descriptive procedures, data management, and manipulation in the SAS statistical programming environment.Beginner experience or some familiarity with R is useful but not required.Intermediate experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.Intermediate knowledge of statistical methods and techniques and their application to data analysis and evaluation.Advanced writing skills for reporting statistical results and conveying technical information.Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.Ability to plan, organize, and carry out tasks independently, respond quickly to requests, and meet production deadlines.
