An ASL interpreter will provides sign language interpretation services in a variety of settings, including working with a variety of individuals who are deaf, deafened, hard of hearing and/or oral, empowering individuals to advocate for themselves and their needs.Candidate QualificationsFluency in English and American Sign Language (ASL)Minimum 1 year interpretation experience preferredInterpreter certification (RID – CDI)Understanding of deaf culture, social experiences of deaf and hard of hearing persons, history of education for students who have various levels of hearing loss, and current pedagogical trends for Proven interpersonal skills when working with deaf and hearing impaired persons, communication service providers, instructors and administratorsProficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email, electronic scheduling and internetExcellent written communication skillsAbility to work independently and within a teamRender correct concepts and meanings according to the conventions of established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.Your responsibilitiesEffectively interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken EnglishMaintain, as applicable, compliance with any national, state, or local licensure and/or certification requirementsAdhere to guidelines for NAD-RID Code of Professional ConductAccurately complete assigned tasks/duties, projects and paperwork promptly and within approved guidelinesPossess the ability to quickly learn and implement new and changing technologiesPossess the ability to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic, highly regulated environmentDemonstrate willingness and ability to complete additional duties and assignments on an on-going basisCommunicate and report to your team leaderTechnical Requirements90% English proficiencyWindows 10 or MacComputer or LaptopSteady wired internet connectionAt a minimum, download speeds of 20 Mbps and upload speeds of 10 MbpsWebcamUSB wired headsetBackdrop; use a contrasting, solid color like royal blue, charcoal, or bright green.What we offer youFully remote.
