As a Solutions Engineer supporting Small and Medium-sized Businesses (SMB), you’ll be a trusted technical advisor who helps customers understand how 1Password can address their security and access challenges. You’ll partner with Account Executives across fast-paced sales cycles, lead technical discovery and proof-of-value (POV) engagements, and connect customer needs to solutions across identity, applications, endpoints, and secrets automation. Your work will help make it easier for businesses and individuals to stay safer online, supporting 1Password’s vision of a safer, simpler digital future for everyone.What we're looking for:RequiredBring at least two years of experience in a technical, customer-facing role, ideally in business-to-business (B2B) software as a service (SaaS) or a similar environment.Communicate technical concepts clearly and confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences.Use strong presentation, storytelling, and discovery skills to make complex information relevant and actionable.Prioritize effectively, manage competing responsibilities, and maintain quality in a fast-paced, high-volume sales environment.Demonstrate curiosity, sound problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote-first team.PreferredBring experience with security and identity concepts, such as credential management, privileged access, secrets management, Single Sign-On (SSO), System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM), or OAuth/OpenID Connect (OAuth/OIDC).Understand developer and DevSecOps workflows, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), containers, cloud infrastructure, service accounts, and application programming interface (API) credentials. Familiarity with platforms such as HashiCorp Vault, CyberArk, BeyondTrust, Delinea, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, CircleCI, Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure is helpful.What you can expect:Serve as the primary technical advisor for SMB sales opportunities, partnering with Account Executives to provide practical guidance throughout the sales cycle.Lead technical discovery with stakeholders including IT administrators, security leaders, developers, DevOps teams, and Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs).Demonstrate and position Endpoint Privilege Management (EPM), Software as a Service (SaaS) Manager, and Device Trust as an integrated solution that helps reduce risk across users, applications, and devices.Run POV engagements that validate customer success criteria, including use cases involving developer environments, cloud-native workloads, automation, and artificial intelligence (AI) workflows.Help customers evaluate solutions in competitive situations involving Privileged Access Management (PAM) vendors, secrets management tools, and SaaS security platforms.Respond to security questionnaires, compliance requests, Requests for Proposal/Requests for Information (RFPs/RFIs), and other technical documentation needs.Collaborate with Sales Enablement, Product, Marketing, Support, and Customer Experience to improve demos, playbooks, enablement resources, and customer-facing education. Some travel may be required for select industry events and team offsites.Reporting to the Manager, Sales Engineering - SMB, this role is based remotely in the United States or Canada.Note: All go-to market roles will have an in-person onboarding in Toronto.USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $75,000 USD and $105,000 USD, and is commission-eligible. This role is also eligible for immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.Canada-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $71,000 CAD and $99,000 CAD and is commission-eligible. That said, remote work at 1Password does mean working from your home country.For all roles, occasional travel may be required. This includes things like: department-wide offsites, quarterly department meetings and periodic customer events. These events are typically held in varying locations across Canada, USA and/or EMEA. In leadership roles, you can expect to travel once per month on average.
