This role is ideal for a seasoned litigator who combines sharp strategic judgment with a pragmatic, business-oriented approach, and who thrives in a fast-moving yet highly collaborative environment.You will play a key role in shaping litigation and enforcement strategy across a diverse portfolio of matters impacting Block’s ecosystem of products and services.You WillLead strategy for significant litigation and regulatory enforcement matters from pre-litigation through resolutionAdvise senior leadership on legal risk, enforcement trends, and business impact, particularly in areas affecting fintech, payments, and data useManage and partner closely with outside counsel to drive high-quality, efficient outcomesPersonally engage on critical aspects of matters, including legal strategy, discovery, and key filingsHandle complex disputes across areas such as class actions, commercial litigation, privacy, and consumer protectionWork exceptionally closely with other Counsel teams—including Policy, Product, Regulatory, and Corporate—to align on risk and strategy Collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as Engineering, Compliance, and Risk to proactively identify and mitigate issues, consistent with business prioritiesYou HaveJ.D. and active bar membership 10+ years of litigation experience at a leading law firm, government agency, or in-houseExperience leading complex litigation and/or regulatory enforcement matters; bonus for deep securities litigation experienceExpertise in areas such as class actions, commercial disputes, privacy, and/or financial regulatory enforcement issuesExperience in litigation for a public company, including financial reporting, audit, and governance obligations Strong judgment and the ability to translate legal risk into practical business guidanceExceptional collaboration skills, with a track record of working effectively across legal disciplines and cross-functional teamsExcellent communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levelsAI-first perspective, with interest in building and leveraging AI-driven tools for litigation management, discovery, and related workflows.
