At Hook, music isn't just consumed — it's experienced, expressed, and made personal.Role Overview We are seeking a Music Expressions Intern to join our Studio team on a full-time, remote basis.This role sits at the intersection of music theory, signal processing, and engineering. You'll work directly with producers and engineers to build the remix filters that Hook users play with every day — translating musical ideas into sounds, contributing to the tools that automate that process, and ensuring the creation experience feels seamless from end to end.This role reports to the Head of Studio Platform.What you'll doCollaborate with producers to translate musical ideas into remix filters available to users in the Hook appWork with the Music Expression Lead to test and build tools that automate the translation of musical ideas into remix filtersQA the user experience across Hook Studio, with a focus on music quality and seamlessnessRequired Skills & ExperienceDegree in computing of some kind — does not need to be completedProgramming experience in Python, and ideally Swift or C++, in a music contextDeep understanding of music theory, including rhythm, harmony, melody, and timbreFamiliarity with signal processing conceptsStrong verbal and visual communication skills — able to articulate abstract musical concepts to engineers and non-musicians alikeWhy this role matters Hook's creation experience lives and dies on the quality and variety of sounds users can play with. This intern will be directly responsible for expanding that library and improving the tools that make it scale — working at the core of what makes Hook different from every other music app.
