Requirements and responsibilities

• Assisting developers in creating scripts to manage the database schema, and creating new schema required by developers. • Creating environment-specific databases (e.g. development, unit testing etc). • Collaborating with the Development team to review and develop quality SQL queries that exhibit excellent performance, and meet product requirements for scalability and maintainability. • Supporting efforts to extract business logic from the database and move into application. • Working to improve database performance specifically on queries, triggers, and stored procedures. • Monitoring and maintaining production databases. • Defining, designing, documenting, guiding, and tracking the database schema. • Optimizing and tuning workloads while optimizing queries to improve system performance and reliability. • Identifying and resolving database inefficiencies. • Overseeing resource provisioning, and working with our System Administration team to optimize deployments. • Installing, administering, and maintaining our multiple SQL server databases. • Establishing automation and monitoring processes to improve efficiency and reliability. • Responding to emergency database related alerts, performing scheduled maintenance, and supporting release deployment activities during periods of low traffic (this may or may not be outside of work hours). • Working with the Infrastructure and Development teams to diversify risk by migrating SaaS microservices/applications to Azure. • Remaining aware of SQL capabilities in Azure and other database technologies that might be suitable for BuildingLink. • Working with System Administrators and Developers to assess, develop and implement a disaster recovery plan including recovery points, recovery time objectives and business continuity plans.
