About the company: Melora Connect is association management software built for small associations and chambers of commerce - organizations under 500 members who have been priced out of or buried by the enterprise platforms. The product is built. We are a small team putting it in front of its first customers, which means everyone here works on things that matter immediately rather than on practice projects.
Why this role exists: Melora Connect is live software with a small codebase and a very small team. Work you do ships. It also means we are careful about how new people are brought into it - we hold member data for other organizations, and those organizations have real obligations to their members. So this role is deliberately scoped: you work on real features, in the real codebase, through code review. You will not be handed production database access or customer data on day one, and that is not a comment on you - it is how a company holding other people's member records ought to operate.
The stack: React and TypeScript, TanStack Start, Tailwind, Supabase (Postgres with row-level security), deployed continuously. If you have built anything with React and touched SQL, you can work here.
What you will do:
- Ship scoped features end to end, UI through database, on the parts of the product customers use weekly: member management, events, dues, reporting.
- Write database migrations and learn to do it safely: additive-only, in transactions, reversible.
- Work in a real review process. Every change is reviewed before it merges. Expect thorough feedback - that is the part you are actually here for.
- Write tests and help extend coverage in the areas you touch.
- Fix bugs from real usage, which is the fastest way to learn a codebase and a product at the same time.
Who we are looking for: You have built and shipped something - a side project, a class project, a contribution to someone else's repo. It does not need users. You know React and TypeScript well enough to be useful without hand-holding on syntax. You are comfortable with SQL - not an expert, comfortable. You read documentation before asking, and ask well when you do. You take review notes without ego. Students, recent graduates, and self-taught developers are all encouraged. A note we would rather make plainly: this is an unpaid role, and engineering internships are the one category where that is a genuine competitive disadvantage. We know it. If you are weighing this against a paid offer, take the paid offer. This is a fit for someone who wants production-scale experience they cannot get elsewhere right now, on a schedule that works around something else.
