The High School English Language Arts Teacher will utilize online learning platforms to provide a rigorous and engaging English curriculum for students across grades 9-12. Duties include participation in state testing, administrative tasks, student assessment, reporting, curriculum adaptation, and providing support to students and their families. Support the instructional program through web conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction.Maintain timely communication with parents, students and academic staff. Review curriculum and devise alternate approaches to presenting lessons to increase student understanding and engagement. Participate in the organization and administration of state testing, as directed. Provide support to students and parents, offering alternate strategies and additional assistance with assignments.Keep student records and data up-to-date, and attendance accounting.Consult with teachers and staff to create alternate enrichment activities and modifications to enhance student understanding. Participate in the organization and administration of the State Testing that may require overnight stays in the California area, as directed.Attendance and travel will be required on occasion for in-person events within California. Occasional in-person attendance required for the annual Back to School Conference and other events. Extended sitting and keyboard/mouse use up to 8 hours daily; hearing, speaking, and visual acuity to engage students virtually. At in-person events: standing/walking, occasional lifting up to 20 lbs (up to 40 lbs on rare occasions), pushing/pulling not exceeding 50 lbs.
