Responsibilities

• If hired before the completion of the major gifts program design phase, the MGO would help lead the program design process with the Senior Director of Development and the major gifts consultant. • Secure six- and seven-figure commitments from individuals and families by executing a major gifts strategy and moving prospects through the sales cycle. • Maintain an ambitious pipeline of qualified prospects and expertly shepherd them from identification to gift confirmation and into an ongoing stewardship plan. • Move individual prospects through a critical path of experiences to align their philanthropic priorities with BDT’s offerings. • Create a plan for each donor that will serve as a foundational communication and marketing plan for each person on the caseload. Faithfully and on a timely basis execute that plan so individuals on the caseload are retained and upgraded. • Work with program and communications teams to secure appropriate project information, including budgets. Coordinate the major gifts program with other revenue streams as well as BDT’s strategic goals. • Create offers, proposals, and asks that will be used to secure gifts with the proper engagement of organizational leadership. • Pitch proposals to potential donors. • Create reports as required by management that accurately reflect caseload activity and performance. • Represent BDT at conferences, seminars, and other events (virtually, and as public health regulations permit, in-person) to further BDT’s donor strategy. • Perform other major donor activities as may be required. • Uphold the highest ethical standards in donor engagement and stewardship. • As appropriate and necessary, support departmental and organizational initiatives. Notably, BDT’s growth in recent years has been significant, so there will likely be a need for flexibility to support parts of the business that are outperforming expectations.
