Whatnot is a livestream shopping platform and marketplace backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator, and CapitalG. We’re building the future of ecommerce, bringing together community, shopping and entertainment. We are committed to our values, whether working remotely or from one of our offices. We are building a team that has experience from top tech, retail and payments platforms in the world. We’re innovating in the fast-paced world of live auctions in categories including sports, fashion, video games, and streetwear. The Discovery team works on making sure every Whatnot user is matched with the right content to improve relevance, experience, retention, and revenue. As a member of the early Discovery team, you will have the opportunity to build systems and platforms that drive over 100MM GMV from scratch. We look for engineers with great product instincts who can own whole projects from start to finish. Responsibilities: - 6 years of software engineering experience - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience. - Prior experience as a Staff Software Engineer or a more senior engineering role - Mastery of at least one language (we primarily use Python, Elixir, JavaScript, and are open to others) - Expert at data architecture - Excellent product instincts. You first think about users rather than the best technical solution - You are known for shipping products and features lightning-fast - You’re an excellent problem solver and don’t need to be told exactly what to do. - Consistent track record of delivering features - Product Management experience. - AWS/DevOps experience - Startup experience at a high-growth company
