We are committed to providing our clients with outstanding guidance and support as they work to shape the future of health care.The DevOps Sr Manager sits within the Platform Engineering organization and is a working manager role, spending roughly half of their time in leadership and the other half hands-on engineering. This role provides leadership to the DevOps team while remaining deeply involved in design, code, and on-call. Partners closely with development, data platform, data governance, and IT teams to deliver secure, reliable, and cost-effective platform capabilities.This is a remote role; however, we currently operate in the following states: AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, MA, MI, MN, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TX and WI.PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIESLead a team of DevOps engineers, including performance management, growth planning, and career developmentOwn the DevOps team roadmap in partnership with the Director of Platform Engineering, including quarterly priorities and capacity planningDrive technical decisions and architecture reviews for CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and platform toolingCollaborate with engineering, data platform, data governance, and ITOps leadership on cross-functional initiatives and shared standardsCoach engineers through code review, design feedback, and incident retrospectivesRepresent the team in executive forums, including roadmap reviews, FinOps reporting, and architecture councilsPartner with the Director of Platform Engineering on AI tooling governance, including standardization on approved platforms, usage policy, and measuring engineering productivity impactDesign, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, including reusable workflows, self-hosted runners, and security controlsImplement and operate infrastructure as code using Terraform across multi-account AWS environmentsManage Kubernetes (EKS) clusters, including ArgoCD-based GitOps delivery, ingress, observability, and security policiesOperate secrets management with HashiCorp Vault, including dynamic credentials, JWT/OIDC auth, and External Secrets Operator integrationBuild and maintain observability tooling with Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and Kubernetes-native monitoring stacksLead incident response and post-incident reviews, including authoring runbooks and reliability improvementsImplement security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation across the platformContribute to AWS network architecture, including PrivateLink, VPCs, and cross-account access patternsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS7+ years of hands-on infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a technical lead or team lead capacityDemonstrated experience as a working manager or tech lead who balances IC delivery with team leadershipDeep experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform, including modules, state management, and multi-account patterns within AWS OrganizationsProduction experience operating Kubernetes (EKS preferred) and GitOps delivery, ideally with ArgoCD or FluxStrong CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions, including security scanning, artifact management, and self-hosted runnersStrong scripting experience with Python, Bash, or similarWorking knowledge of HashiCorp Vault or comparable secrets management platformsExperience with cloud-based networking, including VPCs, private connectivity, DNS, and identity-based accessExperience with observability tooling such as Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or equivalentsBS in a relevant field or equivalent professional experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience supporting a regulated environment (HIPAA, SOC 2, GDPR)Experience with Databricks, Kafka, or other data platform componentsFamiliarity with FinOps practices and cloud cost governanceExperience working in Agile teams and influencing engineering practices across multiple product areasExperience integrating AI coding assistants into team workflows, including establishing usage norms and security guardrailsComfort operating as both a leader and a builder, with strong judgment on when to delegate and when to dive inAbility to translate technical decisions into business-friendly language for executive stakeholdersStrong written and verbal communication skills, including documentation disciplineCuriosity, ownership, and resilience under tight deadlinesTrack record of mentoring engineers and elevating team performanceSALARY, BENEFITS AND PERKSCompetitive total compensation packageMedical and dental coverage at no premium cost for employees401(k) and profit-sharing retirement plansFlexible spending accountsPaid time off (PTO)Company-paid holidaysGender-neutral parental leaveBereavement and pet leaveContinuing education and professional accreditation sponsorshipLife and AD&D insuranceShort- and long-term disabilityEmployee assistance programMental health support programAdditional perksReflected below is the base salary range offered for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to academic achievements, skills and experience.
