Requirements and responsibilities

Position OverviewThe Senior Database Administrator (DBA) provides enterprise database architecture, engineering, security, and sustainment support for mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) systems hosted in secure cloud and hybrid environments. This role supports full lifecycle activities including discovery, development, deployment, data migration, and ongoing operations of highly sensitive systems.The Senior DBA ensures database performance, integrity, availability, and security in compliance with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), STIG hardening requirements, and Zero Trust architecture principles. This position operates within an Agile/DevSecOps environment supporting AWS GovCloud-hosted applications and integrated enterprise systems.This role is remote with occasional travel possible.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).Minimum 8 years of experience in database administration supporting enterprise systems.Demonstrated experience with one or more enterprise database platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or equivalent).Experience administering databases in secure cloud environments (AWS preferred).Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity requirements including RMF, NIST 800-53, and STIG hardening.Experience with database backup/recovery, high availability, performance tuning, and disaster recovery planning.Experience supporting data migration, transformation, and validation for large datasets.Familiarity with DevSecOps and Agile development methodologies.Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.U.S. Citizenship required.Desired QualificationsAWS Certified Database, Solutions Architect, or other relevant cloud certification.Experience supporting DoD casualty, personnel, or mission-critical enterprise systems.Experience supporting systems hosted in AWS GovCloud (IL2–IL5).Experience supporting ATO packages and security control assessments.Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture and secure data design principles.Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD database deployments.Security+ or DoD 8570/8140 compliant certification.ITIL or other service management certification.
