Senior Underwriting Consultant to join our Life Underwriting team in a fully remote capacity. This role is designed for a highly experienced underwriter who can independently evaluate complex, high-face-amount cases while serving as a subject matter expert and mentor to others.You will play a critical role in balancing risk assessment, customer experience, and distribution relationships, particularly within the independent/BGA marketplace.Key ResponsibilitiesUnderwrite complex individual life insurance cases, including impaired risk, with face amounts typically above $5M and authority up to $10MAnalyze medical, financial, and non-medical information to make sound, timely underwriting decisionsProvide second signature support and guidance to junior underwritersPartner closely with internal sales and distribution teams to support business objectivesBuild and maintain strong relationships with independent agents, BGAs, and key distribution partnersManage a high-volume caseload while meeting service and quality standardsCommunicate underwriting decisions clearly and effectively to internal and external stakeholdersContribute to team development through mentoring, training, and knowledge sharing Qualifications Required ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceMinimum of 8 years of life insurance underwriting experienceProven ability to underwrite large and complex cases, including impaired risksExperience working within the independent agent / brokerage (BGA) distribution channelDemonstrated decision-making authority on higher face amounts and complex risk profiles Preferred CredentialsIndustry designations such as FALU, FLMI, CLU, or equivalent courseworkContinued professional development aligned with underwriting expertiseCore CompetenciesStrong analytical and risk assessment skills in a dynamic environmentExcellent communication and relationship management abilitiesCustomer-focused mindset with a commitment to service excellenceAbility to manage competing priorities and maintain productivityProven track record of quality decisions, productivity, and career progressionWhy Join Us?Fully remote role with national exposure and impactOpportunity to work on high-value, complex underwriting casesCollaborative environment with strong partnership between underwriting and distributionCareer growth through advanced casework, mentorship, and leadership opportunitiesEmployee Benefits: We aim to protect the wellbeing of our employees and their families with a broad benefits offering.
