Serves as the Senior Electrical Engineer SME on Project Delivery Teams (PDT) for the preparation of preliminary and final design studies, assessments, contract drawings, analysis, design documentation reports, design calculations, technical specification provisions and labor and material estimates for large and complex electrical engineering projects and equipment.- POSITION: GS-0850-13- PERIOD OF ASSIGNMENT: PERMANENTOther Conditions and RequirementsAPPLICABILITY/AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certation 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.Coordinates the design of electrical equipment with features designed by others to ensure the equipment conforms to related design plans.Provides technical subject matter expertise ubleshooting, maintenance, and construction techniques, which are often highly specialized and unique to the civil works mission.Reviews electrical engineering designs prepared by others including architect-engineer firms or other Districts/Centers for the above and similar type systems and facilities.Checks designs for proper interpretation and application of criteria to ensure that design drawings and analyses of design area accurate and that conclusions and assumptions are sound.Reviews electrical portions of contractors/manufacturers' shop drawings to evaluate the adequacy and practicability of the equipment or system design in conformance with contract requirements.Makes field trips to construction or manufacturing sites to perform inspections and testing to determine contract compliance and quality.Visits projects to render advice, discuss methods and outline instructions as to the requirements needed to meet the intent of design and performance.WHO MAY APPLY: US CitizensAPPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS:Basic Requirement for Electrical Engineer: (Must provide transcripts)Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor’s degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (
