About Aigent EnergyAGent is building the leading software platform to optimize distributed generation resources — turning energy liabilities into reliable, monetizable assets. We bring AI to the aggregation, orchestration, and monetization of distributed generation in wholesale and retail power markets, delivering meaningful reliability, economic, and sustainability benefits to commercial, institutional, and industrial energy users, utilities, and grid operators. We move fast, think big, and operate with a lean, high-trust team. Every hire matters here.About the roleWe are looking for a VP of Product & Engineering to take full ownership of both functions. This is a builder's role, not a purely technical one. You will spend as much time talking to customers, shaping the roadmap, and driving execution as you will leading the engineers who bring it to life. The role leans 50–60% product and 40–50% engineering. If you have spent your career purely in one lane, this probably is not the right fit. If you have lived at the intersection of both — and loved it — read on.Four things matter most in this seat.A product-first mindset: you talk to customers, translate what you hear into prioritized features, and build the right thing in the right order. An engineering leader's instincts: you architect for scale, hold teams to timelines, and make sharp build-vs-buy-vs-partner calls. An operator's discipline: you run tight processes and create the accountability a fast-moving team needs. An innovator's vision: you see where the energy market is heading before others do, challenge conventional thinking, and turn that foresight into a platform that stands apart. One more thing. We build with AI, and we work with it. Whoever takes this seat sets the standard for how the whole team uses these tools — which means having real, earned opinions about where AI belongs in a mission-critical dispatch platform, and where it emphatically does not. What You'll OwnProductThe roadmap end-to-end: customer discovery through prioritization, specification, and deliveryRegular customer interviews, working with Sales and Energy Markets to identify what drives the most valueA structured, transparent roadmap that aligns leadership on what is being built, why, and whenDemos to prospects and customers alongside Sales — you are a credible, compelling voice for what we have builtCrisp prioritization decisions: you know how to say no, and how to explain whyEngineeringLeading and growing a team of engineers and product managers — people who have worked with you before would follow you anywhereThe engineering cadence: sprint planning, standups, retros, on-time delivery, accountabilityThe technology architecture: scalable, secure, and capable of 24/7 mission-critical operationBuild-vs-buy-vs-partner decisions, and the outsourcing relationships that supplement our internal capabilitiesUnit economics for the platform, including hardware BOM and cloud infrastructure costExecutionTight delivery timelines, and the discipline to hold the team to themEarly identification of blockers and risks — the CEO hears about problems before they become problemsRegular reporting to the board and leadership on roadmap, milestones, and team performanceQualificationsRequired5+ years as VP of Product, VP of Engineering, CTO, or in senior technology leadership at a high-growth companyA real product management background: you have owned roadmaps, run customer discovery, and made prioritization calls under pressureA track record of shipping on time and creating operational structure in fast-moving environmentsStrong system architecture instincts — you know how to build platforms that scaleConfidence presenting and demoing externally: you translate technical capability into business value in the roomExceptional communication — you can present to a board, interview a customer, and give a junior engineer clear feedback in the same dayComfort in a fast-paced, remote, early-stage environment where self-initiative is essential, and a deep passion for technology and energyPreferredYou use AI tooling in your own daily work. Not as something your team does, and not only as a feature you have shipped — you personally build with it, you have opinions about where it fails, and you have raised an engineering organization's leverage with it.Experience in distributed energy, electricity markets, grid operations, or adjacent industriesFamiliarity with distributed generation assets, backup power systems, or DER platformsExperience with hardware/software co-development and the associated unit economicsAn undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical fieldHow We HireWe do not hire senior leaders on conversation alone. After an initial conversation with the CEO, finalists work through a short take-home exercise built on a real AGent problem, followed by a working session with the leadership team. You will see the actual roadmap and the actual platform, and we will tell you exactly what we are evaluating before you start. It is a demanding process.
