We collaborate with customers to strategize, navigate, and accelerate an ideal path forward with a digital transformation via assessments, migration, or modernization.Role OverviewWe are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Migration Engineer with strong expertise in both database administration and development across Oracle and PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience migrating enterprise applications from licensed databases such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server to open-source engines like Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL or RDS. A minimum of 5+ years of DBA and Developer experience and a proven track record of successfully delivering 2 or more end-to-end database migration projects is required.What you will do?Design and implement database migration plans from licensed databases like Oracle and MSSQL to open-source databases like Aurora PostgreSQL on AWSAnalyze existing database architectures and define optimal migration strategiesConvert schemas, stored procedures, functions, packages and database logic (PL/SQL to PL/pgSQL)Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and execution plan analysisTroubleshoot complex database issues and implement robust backup/recovery and HA/DR solutionsDevelop automation scripts for database operations and monitoringImplement CI/CD best practices for database deployments, including automated schema versioning, testing, and rollout processesCollaborate with cross-functional teams and document migration processesAssess application-level dependencies and ensure compatibility during database migrationImplement database security best practices, including access control, auditing, and encryption in AWSWhat are we looking for?Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field5+ years of experience as an Oracle/PostgreSQL DBA and database developer.Experience with AWS database migration tools and services such as AWS DMS and SCT/Ora2PgProven delivery of 2 or more database migration projectsStrong hands-on skills in PL/SQL, PL/pgSQL, schema conversion, and performance tuningExperience with AWS DMS, SCT, RDS, Aurora, and related AWS servicesStrong SQL, scripting (Shell/Python), troubleshooting, and documentation skillsExcellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex issuesStrong communication and collaboration skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionYou will be preferred if:Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools, such as Ansible, Chef, or PuppetFamiliarity with IAAC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormationFamiliarity with CI/CD implementation tools like Liquibase/FlywayAWS Certified Database – SpecialtyAWS Certified Solutions ArchitectLife at MactoresWe care about creating a culture that makes a real difference in the lives of every Mactorian.
