This unique opportunity will provide comprehensive behavioral health for the common conditions seen in child psychiatry such as depression, anxiety, ADHD and conduct disorders in an extended virtual model. Currently, this posting is for a per-diem or part-time position with opportunity for growth.DescriptionWork as part of the virtual behavioral health team, providing patient services using evidence based medicineDiagnose and assess mental/behavioral health disorders for pediatric, adolescent and young adult patients; formulate differential diagnosesDemonstrate appropriate clinical judgement in assessment and treatment, following established clinical care guidelinesCollaborate and communicate with therapist team and medical leadership to discuss patient treatment plansOrder and interpret diagnostic tests when appropriateConduct patient history and initial evaluations of incoming patientsPrescribe medications as part of the patient’s treatment regime as allowed by licenseProvide both medication management and counseling for patientsEducate patient and parent on medication side effects, risk/benefits and proper usage of new medication and reasonable outcome expectations of medicationsEstablish and modify patient treatment plan based on clinical assessment and re-assessment with screening toolsAppropriately document each patient visit in the electronic medical record, including subjective and objective data, assessments, treatment plan, and other documentation as necessaryCommunicate patient’s plan of care with behavioral health team and patient’s primary care physicianWork with members of the healthcare team in educating the patients of their medical careContinually update clinical knowledge and skills through consultation, formal and informal education and review of literature for the benefit of themselves as well as for the healthcare teamProvide appropriate referrals when necessaryProvide supervision to psychiatric nurse practitionersQualificationsMD/DO with appropriate licensing in states prescribingExperience with prior psychopharmacology managementBoard eligible or board certified in child and adolescent psychiatryStrong organizational and time management skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to screen for danger to self or othersDemonstrated adherence to acceptable ethical and behavioral standards of conductAbility to collaborate with strong skills working with a teamExperience working specifically with children and adolescentsValid DEA License in states prescribingValid Medical License in states prescribingValid Medicaid number in NYCompensation: Compensation Dependent Upon Location and ExperienceEEO StatementPM Pediatric Care is an equal employment opportunity employer.
