Requirements and responsibilities

Senior Brand Designer: - Brand systems. - Motion. - Digital craft. - Reporting to the CEO. Employment Type: - Full-time long-term contractor. - Remote (Africa or Asia). - Apply by May 25, 2026. Role Overview: - We need a designer who builds brand systems that move businesses forward and ships them at the level of the best studios in the world. - If your portfolio shows full identity systems, real systems, not just logos, with type, color, motion, and applications that hold together at every scale, keep reading. Who We Are: The Coast: - We are a creative branding and digital agency based out of Dallas with a global remote team. - Our tagline is "Bring us a drop. We'll deliver the ocean." - We work with founders whose businesses have outgrown their brands, from one-person startups to scaling companies. - We are also the team building Autonomous Nexus Technology (ANT) and Colony, a patent-pending AI agent platform and an AI-native project management tool. - Both launch publicly in 2026. - The Senior Brand Designer owns the visual identity for both products end-to-end. The Role: What You'll Own: - You report directly to the CEO. - You lead brand design across The Coast, ANT, Colony, and every client account we run. - You partner with a junior brand designer (production support), a digital marketing lead, and our engineering team. - You set the bar; we hold the line. - Build full brand identity systems: logos, type, color, grid, motion principles, voice, and applications across 50+ touchpoints. - Lead the visual identity for ANT and Colony, launching in 2026, with everything from logo and brand book to marketing site, investor materials, and motion. - Design and ship brand-driven motion: product launches, social, web, ad creative. - Lottie / After Effects / Rive comfort required. - Lead identity work for client engagements: The Architect and Empire Builder tiers ($15K–$50K projects). - Set the design standard internally: mentor our existing brand designer, raise the floor on craft, define our internal design ops. - Use generative AI as a core part of your workflow: ideation, exploration, motion, asset generation. - Speed is a competitive edge. - Build and maintain The Coast's own brand system: our work is our biggest sales tool. The Bar: What "Senior" Actually Means Here: - This is not a role for someone who has been designing for eight years. - It's for someone who's been designing at a top-tier bar for any number of years. - We care about the work, not the timeline. You Are: - A brand systems thinker first, a designer second. - Fluent in motion: Lottie, After Effects, Rive. - Comfortable defending your decisions in plain language. - Obsessive about typography, grids, and detail at every scale. - Fluent in generative AI: it's a core tool in your workflow. - Self-managed, fast, accountable to outcomes. You Are Not: - A graphic designer who makes posts in Canva. - A static-only designer who outsources motion. - A pixel-pusher waiting for direction. - Loose about craft if the deadline is tight. - Resistant to AI in your workflow. - Reliant on close supervision and detailed briefs. Must-Haves: Non-Negotiables: - A portfolio with at least 3 full identity systems: logo, type, color, applications, real depth. - Not just logo lockups. - Strong motion work: we want to see how you bring a brand to life in motion, not just static frames. - Generative AI fluency: you actively use AI in your design workflow and can show us where you've shipped with it. - Figma fluency: components, variants, design tokens, auto-layout, prototyping. - Adobe Creative Suite fluency: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects. - Written and spoken English at a professional level: you'll be in calls with US-based clients and on Slack daily. - Reliable internet and a remote workspace that supports daily 8:00 AM WAT standups. - Ability to commit to a full eight (8) hour workday, Monday through Friday. Nice-to-Haves: Bonus Points: - Webflow or Framer experience: you can take your own designs to live web. - Spline or Blender comfort: 3D as a brand expression tool. - Experience designing for AI products or B2B SaaS. - A side project, personal practice, or studio that demonstrates obsession with craft. - Writing chops: you can articulate why a design works, not just that it does. Compensation & Terms: - Engagement Type: Full-time long-term independent contractor. - Compensation: Competitive market rate based on portfolio and experience; we pay what the work is worth. - Location: Remote, must overlap with 8:00 AM WAT standup (Africa, Asia, or compatible time zones). - Reporting Line: Direct to the Founder & CEO. - Start Date: ASAP; the ANT and Colony launches don't wait.
