Remote U.S. Tax Preparer & Client Liaison About the Company We are a fast-growing U.S. tax strategy and accounting firm that helps profitable business owners legally reduce their taxes, build wealth, and gain financial clarity. Our clients are primarily entrepreneurs and real estate investors who expect proactive tax guidance, accurate filings, and responsive communication. We currently serve a portfolio of approximately 50 clients and are looking for a highly skilled U.S. Tax Preparer who can support the preparation and review of tax returns while serving as a key liaison between clients and our internal tax team. This role is ideal for someone who is technically strong, highly organized, and comfortable communicating directly with clients to help ensure returns are prepared accurately and efficiently. Position Overview The U.S. Tax Preparer will play a central role in the tax preparation process for both individual and business returns. This person will assist in preparing tax returns, review the work of the tax team for accuracy and completeness, and help gather and clarify client information to ensure filings are correct and submitted on time. This is not just a back-office tax role. The ideal candidate will also be client facing, communicating with clients to request documents, explain next steps, resolve discrepancies, and help keep each case moving smoothly from intake through filing. The role requires someone who can act as a strong connector between clients and the internal team to ensure nothing is missed and each return is prepared to a high standard. Responsibilities Tax Preparation & Review: Assist in preparing accurate U.S. federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses. Review returns and supporting workpapers prepared by the tax team to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Verify financial data, tax documents, and source information before filing. Identify missing information, inconsistencies, and potential issues that need correction before submission. Support the application of appropriate tax strategies and ensure they are reflected correctly in the return. Client Coordination & Communication: Communicate directly with clients by email, Zoom, and other channels as needed. Request tax documents, clarify open items, and follow up on missing or incomplete information. Explain filing requirements, return status, and tax-related questions in a clear and professional manner. Serve as a liaison between clients and the internal tax team to ensure accurate information flow and timely completion of returns. Help clients feel informed, supported, and confident throughout the tax preparation process. Case Management: Manage and track assigned client tax cases across a portfolio of approximately 50 clients. Review prior-year returns, current financials, and supporting documentation. Monitor deadlines, open questions, and filing progress to ensure timely completion. Maintain complete, organized, and up-to-date client records. Quality Control & Compliance: Perform quality checks on tax returns and related documentation before filing. Ensure filings comply with current IRS regulations and applicable state tax laws. Escalate technical issues, risks, or unusual tax situations to senior team members when needed. Help maintain internal tax preparation standards, accuracy, and workflow consistency. Internal Collaboration: Work closely with tax preparers, accountants, bookkeepers, and other internal team members. Coordinate with the tax team to resolve issues, correct errors, and finalize returns. Assist in improving workflows and communication processes that support better client outcomes and fewer filing errors. Support a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and high-quality client service. Core Tasks: Assisting in the preparation of individual and business tax returns. Reviewing tax returns and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness. Communicating with clients regarding documents, questions, and return status. Coordinating with the internal tax team to resolve issues and finalize returns. Tracking case progress, deadlines, and outstanding items. Helping ensure all filings are complete, compliant, and prepared correctly. Requirements Credentials: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or EA (Enrolled Agent) preferred Strong experienced tax preparers without a CPA or EA may also be considered, depending on background Tax Knowledge: Strong understanding of U.S. tax law for both individual and business returns Knowledge of tax preparation workflows, compliance requirements, and common filing issues Ability to analyze financial information and identify discrepancies or tax implications Understanding of how to review returns for accuracy and completeness Experience: 3+ years of hands-on U.S. tax preparation experience Experience preparing and/or reviewing individual and business tax returns Experience working directly with U.S.-based clients Experience in a client-facing tax or accounting role preferred Experience coordinating across internal teams to move returns through preparation and filing preferred Software Skills: Experience with tax software such as Drake, ProSeries, UltraTax, or similar QuickBooks Online preferred Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets Work Style: Detail-oriented and highly organized Strong written and verbal English communication skills Comfortable in both technical tax work and client-facing communication Able to manage multiple cases and follow through consistently Reliable, deadline-driven, and proactive in resolving issues Candidate Expectations: Available during U.S. Central Time business hours Comfortable communicating directly with clients in a professional manner Able to act as a bridge between clients and the internal tax team Capable of reviewing work carefully and catching issues before filing Reliable remote work setup with strong internet connection Compensation: $1,500 - $2,000 USD per month (Full-Time) Performance-based bonuses available based on accuracy, responsiveness, quality of review, and overall contribution What Success Looks Like: Tax returns are prepared accurately and submitted on time Errors are caught during review before filing Clients receive timely, professional, and helpful communication Client information is gathered efficiently and handed off clearly to the tax team Internal coordination improves turnaround time and reduces rework The tax preparation process runs smoothly from document collection through filing Why Join Us: Work with a high-level U.S. tax strategy firm Be part of a team that supports entrepreneurs and real estate investors Play a meaningful role in both tax preparation and client experience Gain direct exposure to complex client tax situations and strategy Long-term opportunity within a growth-focused, performance-driven team
