Requirements and responsibilities

This is a flexible, recurring freelance engagement. Hours will gradually increase over time. There's no fixed schedule, but some availability overlapping MST timezone is preferred as we're working with a Canadian client. Key Responsibilities: Information Architecture & UX Strategy: - Define the end-to-end information architecture across all platform surfaces, ensuring intuitive navigation between the Front Page, Feed, Sectors, Symbols, Creator Studio, and Dashboard. - Map user journeys for distinct personas: retail investors (readers), content creators (contributors), and high-RS moderators/governors. - Design the progressive disclosure of the RS system, making credibility mechanics transparent and understandable without overwhelming new users. - Structure content hierarchy for data-dense pages: symbol intelligence with real-time charting, multi-format feeds with RS scoring, and moderation audit interfaces. UI Design & Design System: - Create and maintain a comprehensive design system that supports the platform’s brand identity (dark-themed, financial-grade, credibility-forward aesthetic). - Design high-fidelity screens and interactive prototypes for all core surfaces, from mobile-responsive feeds to desktop-first charting and analytics views. - Develop component libraries for recurring patterns: content cards (micro-posts, signal reports, editorial), RS indicators, visibility tier badges, engagement widgets, and ranking transparency modules. - Design data visualisations for the Resonance Score engine: RS progression charts, decay curves, diversity multiplier indicators, and epoch-level reward breakdowns. User Research & Validation: - Conduct user research with retail investors, crypto traders, and financial content creators to validate design decisions and uncover usability gaps. - Run usability testing on key flows: onboarding and identity verification, first-post creation, feed exploration, symbol search, and RS progression. - Translate research insights into actionable design improvements, working closely with the product and engineering teams. Trust & Credibility UX: - Design the visual language for the platform’s trust infrastructure: how RS scores, visibility tiers, audition bucket progression, and moderation states are communicated to users. - Create interfaces for the deterministic ranking system, showing users how RS weighting, exploration slots, and format-neutral scoring shape content visibility. - Design safety and moderation UI: suppression states, boost kill-switch indicators, fraud flags, AI classification outputs, and community-led audit workflows. - Ensure the economic layer (points, tipping, rewards, future token activation) is presented clearly and builds user confidence in the platform’s fairness. Cross-Functional Collaboration: - Collaborate daily with frontend engineers to ensure pixel-perfect implementation and smooth handoff using structured design specs. - Work with backend engineers to understand the Trust, Value, and Allocation domain boundaries and how they constrain and inform the user experience. - Partner with the founding team on product strategy and feature prioritisation, contributing a user-centred perspective to roadmap decisions. Qualifications & Experience: Required: - 5+ years of professional UI/UX design experience shipping production web and mobile products. - Strong portfolio demonstrating complex, data-intensive interface design (dashboards, analytics, feeds, financial tools, or marketplace platforms). - Deep proficiency in Figma (or equivalent) with experience building and maintaining scalable design systems and component libraries. - Demonstrated ability to design for complex information architectures with multiple user types, content formats, and navigation patterns. - Experience with user research methods: usability testing, user interviews, journey mapping, and translating findings into design iterations. - Strong visual design skills with attention to typography, spacing, hierarchy, and accessibility in data-dense layouts. - Experience collaborating closely with frontend engineers to deliver production-quality implementations from design specs. Preferred: - Experience designing fintech, financial media, trading, or investment platforms. - Familiarity with reputation systems, credibility scoring, gamification mechanics, or trust & safety interfaces. - Experience designing for social or community-driven platforms (feeds, profiles, content creation tools, moderation workflows). - Knowledge of real-time data visualisation patterns, charting libraries, and financial data presentation best practices. - Understanding of event-driven architectures and how backend system design constrains frontend UX. - Interest in or experience with crypto/Web3 ecosystems, token economies, or decentralised governance.
