Requirements and responsibilities

Project Type: Ongoing, 30–40 hours/week to start, long-term relationship preferred. Hourly Rate: $13–20/hr USD depending on experience. Description: - We are a Los Angeles-based real estate development firm with 5 active multifamily renovation and ADU projects. - We are looking for a remote Project Engineer to support our Construction Manager with the coordination and back-office work that keeps these projects on track. - This is an ongoing role, not a one-off project. - We want to build a long-term relationship with someone who becomes a core part of our team. What You'll Do: - Maintain weekly budget snapshots for each active project (budget vs. actual vs. committed, variance tracking). - Log and track change orders, RFIs, and submittals. - Build and update project schedules in Gantt format. - Transcribe voice memos from our Construction Manager into structured site notes using a standard template. - Track permit status and follow up with city agencies, consultants, and contractors by phone and email on behalf of our team. - Maintain document organization in Google Drive. - Produce a weekly summary report across all 5 projects highlighting top issues and decisions needed. Required: - 2+ years experience in construction project engineering, estimating, or project coordination. - Professional fluency in written and spoken English — you will represent our company on calls with city agencies and contractors. - Confident communicator by phone — this is not an email-only role. - Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills — pivot tables, formulas, budget tracking. - Available for at least 4 hours of overlap with Pacific Time (PST/PDT) business hours. - Reliable internet and a quiet work environment for video calls. - Experience with construction management software (Procore, Buildertrend, or similar) a plus. Strongly Preferred: - US multifamily or residential renovation experience. - Familiarity with LA construction (permitting, ADUs, TIC structures) — we will train, but exposure helps. - Architecture or civil engineering background.
